For me, the whole Martin/Zimmerman case is functionally over – the incident is being investigated, and if there is sufficient evidence to indicate that a murder transpired*, I have every reason to believe that Zimmerman will be charged, and that is exactly the way the system is supposed to work. On the other hand, the fallout from this case has just begun, and I shudder to think how far the ripples will travel. [...]

I have held off on posting on the shooting (and apparent murder) of Jose Guerena for a variety of reasons, not the least of which are my abject fury over how the situation was handled, and my hope that some kind of mitigating information would eventually surface. Well, my fury has not abated, and no information has been found to excuse the SWAT team from shooting at him 71 times and hitting him 22 [...]  |
