Considering that my posts documenting how James Yeager is a coward and how he violated the Tennessee constitution are getting an unusual amount of traffic in recent days, I thought I would take a brief moment to comment on Yeager’s most recent bout of mind-numbing stupidity wherein he stated, "If it goes one inch further, I’m going to start killing people!".
First, just like the Sandy Hook Elementary School murderer, James Yeager is not [...]

Not having a dog in this particular fight, I can only sit back and laugh at how quickly The Journal News and now Gawker Media are realizing that private American citizens enjoy their… well, privacy. Extra bonus points got to Gawker for labeling all firearm-owning New Yorkers as "Assholes" – way to make friends and influence people, especially in New York.
On the one hand, a fair argument could be made that these lists [...]

This recent Black Friday – the Friday immediately following Thanksgiving wherein Americans try to commercialize Christmas as hard and as fast as they can – apparently set a new all-time record for the number of NICS checks in America:
Tell me again how the "gun culture" is dying – I need something to laugh at.
Additionally, I would like to correct something the NSSF article said, and add to it a bit [...]

I meant to put up this post over the weekend, but life conspired against me, and then Say Uncle linked to my last post, and here we are. However, the short-and-sweet of it is this:
The Knoxville / Turkey Creek Chick-Fil-A has NOT posted itself as a “gun-free zone” / victim-disarmament zone.
I drove by the store yesterday, and neither of its two entrances were posted with anything even approximating a “gunbuster” sticker, [...]

The trouble with keeping up with firearm-related laws in America is that they change so very often in so very many different locales and states, but the new book, Gun Laws By State makes a valiant attempt at providing a single-source reference for those of us who are interested in laws across borders. Unfortunately, it does fall short in a few places.
To begin with, I am intrigued at how this book is [...]

[Update] Please see updated information regarding this story here. In short, Chick-Fil-A has NOT posted itself as a “gun-free zone”.[/UPDATE]
Well, now, this is interesting.
As regular readers will remember, I went to Chick-Fil-A on the first of this month to support them and show my disdain, to put it politely, for those governmental lackeys who would tell a private corporation where it can and cannot build based off nothing more than the personal [...]

Politicians are so easy.
Almost a month ago, I wrote a friendly letter to Tim Hutchison, an apparent state representative candidate for the newly-moved 89th District (*.pdf warning) here in Tennessee (it used to be over in Memphis, and is now in Knoxville… that will not be confusing at all!). Unsurprisingly, he never responded to that email, which happened to ask some rather poignant, penetrating questions, and I decided to send that email to [...]

On my way to Organized Play to have my ass handed to me at a prerelease game for the new set of Magic: the Gathering (I did manage to "win" one round, but only because we ran out of time and the other guy threw the last of our three games… and one of the rounds I "lost" because we once again ran out of time and I threw the last game – ties help [...]

I should start this post by observing that Coal Creek Armory is currently being featured on Deal Chicken with a $37.50 Basic Handgun Safety Class (regularly $60), a $37.50 Women’s Handgun Essentials Class, a $100 1 Year Range Membership (normal value $200), a $182.50 Basic Handgun Safety Course Package (including the Basic Handgun Safety Class, a Handgun Carry Permit Class, and 1 Year Membership), or a $182.50 Women’s Handgun Essentials Class Package (including the Women’s [...]

By current accounting, the misnamed Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) claims or claimed as members at least 15 mayors who have been convicted of breaking various and sundry laws, recorded below in alphabetical order by their last names:
Gary Becker – Plead guilty to sexual assault on a child and child enticement.
Adam Bradley – Convicted of attempted assault, harassment, and criminal contempt.
John Callahan – Improper use of mayoral campaign funds [...]

I cannot say as though I know a single thing about Tactical Advantage Corp based out of Corryton, TN (except that I absolutely hate webpages that have repeating noises running in the background), but they work with Coal Creek Armory and Parafrog, so they cannot be all bad.
More to the point, by way of DealChicken (a Groupon / Living Social analog), T.A.C. Academy is offering a Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit course for all [...]

A little not so-friendly rivalry between competitors?
Say it ain’t so.
In case there was any question, Coal Creek Armory claims to meet and/or exceed the requirements set forth by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1025. As for Frontier Firearms’… "request"… Wow. Just wow.

So yesterday I got a big ol’ honkin’ package in the mail from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and my first thought was, "Huh, I don’t remember leaving any farms laying around in Florida after I moved out." I got back to the house, tore open the manila envelope, and was suddenly surprised at how quickly time had passed.
You see, as of this April, it will have been five years [...]

Last week, Spartanburg County, South Carolina, Sheriff Chuck White made the news by saying,
Sheriff Chuck Wright opened his news conference by saying, "Our form of justice is not making it."
He said, "Carry a concealed weapon. That’ll fix it."
… and continued by repeatedly exhorting people to get concealed carry permits and lawfully carry firearms for their own personal self-defense.
In a perfect world, any one of those exhortations would serve [...]

So apparently the Mayors Against Illegal Guns took out some massive, whole-page ad in USA Today against the Senate approving H.R. 822, which would require states that issue handgun carry permits (or their equivalents) to recognize other states’ permits. *shrug* Cannot say as though I particularly care about a group of self-righteous, bigoted egotists who, on average, are convicted of crimes significantly more often than average citizens, so I never would have even noticed if [...]

Simple: a pro-rights weblogger who has only been writing for about a year now wrote up a post documenting the growth of concealed handgun permits and decrease in firearm-related crime, he sent it to a reporter, and she took the ball and ran with it:
Compared to last year, almost 33,000 more people can carry a concealed handgun in North Carolina. During that same time period, the crimes involving handguns has decreased.
Permit holders [...]

Predictably, Uncle beat me to it, but here is what I have.
A few weeks back, Mast General put up some “gunbuster” stickers on their stores’ doors. I sent them a variant of my usual TFA-based email, and heard nary a response. Reader Adam had much better luck. His original email follows:
My wife and I have been shopping at Mast for many years. We were registered at Mast in Asheville for [...]

As we are taught from a very young age, ignorance is no excuse. Whether we are talking about the rules of the playground, the laws of the land, or the requirements of your family, it is generally incumbent upon you to keep up with the regulations that surround your life, and ensure that you are operating inside of them (assuming you want to, of course).
However, in a world where our tax code is [...]

Once again, I am going to blatantly steal a positively outstanding idea from Bob S. while he was busy trying to steal his original idea back from me – just how law-abiding are people who carry firearms? We already know that the Violence Policy Center likes to redefine words like "murder" and "dead" in order to cast firearm carriers in the worst possible light, but what do the facts – the raw numbers – actually [...]

As a reminder to my readers, the word “bigot” generally means, “a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices, especially one exhibiting intolerance, and animosity toward those of differing beliefs”. This behavior is generally identified by a person’s refusal to accept or even acknowledge any information, facts, or figures that contradict or disprove their personal opinions; an overwhelming desire to dominate a conversation through the use of carefully-crafted insults, [...]
