So quit being so bitter about it.
This is something that’s brought up time and time again. ”No one wants to take away your guns.” ”No one’s asking for confiscation.” If any pro-rights activists still believe that, I have a bridge for sale. I’m often told that it’s “only the fringe” of anti-gun cultists that want confiscation. If that’s the case, why do so many elected servants nationwide think it’s such a great idea?

About that bill in Missouri…
Okay so maybe I should click on the dang links first.
Bitter!?! No. I’m planning for it.
I aim to misbehave.
If you listen to the President, he’ll often say “we’re not going to take away all your guns”, implying, of course, that he’d be willing to take some of our guns. That’s a little like saying that the President 150 years ago only wants to take slaves away from the bad owners, not the nice ones.
They also keep saying, “An armed insurrection can’t work! (*sniff*)” – and then what is their go-to action-plan? Che’s armed insurrection, with Soviet or Chinese or Venezuelan supplied free weapons and ammo.
The interesting thing, at least to me, is how copy-paste-y those two bills are… One has to wonder what their originating source is, and whether the legislators are simply cribbing from one another, or receiving… guidance… from an external source.
@ NotClauswitz:
If they dont work, why are they sponsoring so many lately?
Libya, Egpt, Syria, Tunisia, did i miss any?
I am a Canadian. I happened upon your website not too long ago and enjoy reading your blog – keep up the great work.
Reading this particular piece, about ‘no one wanting to take your guns away’, i find i need to add my two cents if you’ll take it. As you might or might not know, our ‘gun control’ laws in Canada are pretty much useless. They were a knee jerk reaction from a political party looking for votes. They are a major headache for law abiding hunters and shooting enthusiasts. No one bothered to tell the politicians that criminals don’t worry much about firearm acquisition certificates or gun registration.
Confiscation is EXACTLY what your anti-rights supporters are looking to accomplish. If not today, then tomorrow. I am living through an environment right now where a certain model firearm is okay today, and deemed unfit tomorrow, and confiscated by the feds without any compensation for your property.
Do not kid yourself into thinking there is some higher, loftier objective – what ever law they put forth, however nice they want to coat it, it will open the door to other legislation that will eventually lead to confiscation.
Your government is reacting in a knee jerk fashion. It is plain and simple – its scary how it mimics what we went through. Whatever headway they make today into gun control legislation will lead to more and more.
Now is not the time to let your guard down. Good luck!
Dare say you have some quote of day material right there, Skas. Thanks for stopping by, Antonio, and sharing your, “been there, done that” perspective!
My favorite is “Nobody is talking about taking away your guns! Just those assault weapons nobody should own.” Etc.
@Derek – oh yeah, it’s there, and it’s ugly.
@MAJMike – oh yeah! I think Tam nailed when she noted that no one’s buying guns and ammo to turn them in.
@Tom – Yessir. Our local rag is really playing up the “2200 guns that are allowed under the proposed bill” bit. Oh good, how about a list of 2200 words we can use, you jackwagons? How about fuck you and I’ll get what I want, .gov.
@Notclauswitz/daveW – They have this disconnect about home vs away. Not sure why they can’t get past that hurdle, but it’s there.
@Linoge1 – Yes, very interesting that they’re so similar. Someone’s giving marching orders, gotta wonder who. My guess is Bloomberg saying “propose a bill like this and I’ll give you $x”.
@Antonio – Thank you, and thank you for your thoughts – they are always welcome.
You’re exactly right that their ultimate goal is confiscation. The trick is getting them to admit it or at the very least ensuring that pro-rights activists understand that is the case. Thank you for the luck, I feel we’ll need it!
@Linoge2 – I think you are correct there.
@Firehand – Yessir, and those Saturday Night Specials no one should own, and those .50BMGs that are only used to shoot down airplanes, and, and, and
@Everyone – Sorry for the delay in my replies. Poor blogging skills on my part for that. Will work on it.
[...] This week’s QotW comes from the comments on the “No one is coming for your guns” post courtesy of Antonio who resides where the gun control crowd did what they ultimately want: confiscation. [...]
@Skas – one of my high school buddies from Misery said the bill is hemmed up in committee and dead in the water.
@Derek D – That’s great news. Hope that keeps happening.
