Current Total Donation Amount: (0700 01APR13)
$2190
The Rules:
The rules are a little different than last year’s exercise, so pay attention.
How to Earn a Ticket:
1. Every five dollars you donate directly to Honored American Veterans Afield nets you one numbered ticket.
2. DO NOT SEND ME MONEY. All money and goods should go directly to HAVA.
3. DO SEND ME THE RECEIPT. Anonymize it however you like, and use the actual receipt or a screencap. Send the receipt/proof to “linoge (at) wallsofthecity (dot) net”.
4. Use an email address you check at least once every 24 hours.
5. Within 24 hours, you should receive an email from me indicating your ticket numbers. If you do not, feel free to email me again or comment here.
6. Anyone who donates at least $25 will receive a copy of either This is War: Memories of Iraq or Shepherds of Helmand, randomly chosen by me.
7. Anyone who donates at least $50 will receive their choice of a copy of This is War: Memories of Iraq or Shepherds of Helmand.
8. Anyone who donates at least $100 will receive both This is War: Memories of Iraq and Shepherds of Helmand.
How We Will Do the Drawing:
1. At 1800 EDT on 01APR13, with Better Half watching over my shoulder, I will use Random.org to generate as many winning numbers as there are prize packages.
2. Within an hour or so of that exercise, I will email all the winners and inform them their winning position (first, second, third, etc.).
3. The first winner should email me his one package choice, the second winner should email me his two package choices in order of preference, the third winner should email me his three package choices in order of preference, and so forth.
4. All winners will have 72 hours to respond.
5. After 72 hours, I will start with the lowest-number winner I have a response from and send them their top remaining package choice, and work down the list to the highest-number winner I have a response from. Any winners who respond outside the 72 hour window will have a choice of the remaining packages.
6. You can only win once.
7. Prize packages will be finalized by 1800 EDT 30MAR13.
8. Donations must be made to HAVA by 2359 EDT 31MAR13.
9. Receipts must be to me by 1700 EDT 01APR13.
The Prize Packages:
(Note: The contents of the prize packages may shift and shuffle a little as new prizes are added. Packages will not decrease in value from what you see now.)
(Note: Prizes from Zombie Tools do contain profanity and/or stylized blood. If this is a problem, please select another package, or let me know.)
Current number of prize packages: 16
4x HAVA Duffel Packages
1x HAVA-branded duffel bag (17” x 9” x 11”) courtesy of HAVA
1x HAVA-branded LaRue Dillo Tactical Beverage Entry Tool courtesy of HAVA
1x Leupold LensPen courtesy of HAVA
1x Smith & Wesson 25NRR Ear Muffs courtesy of HAVA
1x HAVA-branded ballcap courtesy of HAVA
1x Mossberg ballcap courtesy of HAVA
1x Surefire EP3 or EP4 (random selection) courtesy of HAVA
1x Surefire G2Z-OD or G2-OD (random selection) courtesy of HAVA
So, to recap, there are four packages that each contain: (1) duffel bag, one (1) Dillo tool, one (1) lens pen, one (1) set of earmuffs, two (2) ballcaps, one (1) set of earplugs, and one (1) flashlight. How awesome is that?
“Bacon” Package

1x Custom-Engraved Ka-Bar Baconmaker courtesy of HAVA
1x “Fist Full of F*ck Yeah” T-Shirt (XL) courtesy of Zombie Tools
1x “Fist Full of F*ck Yeah” Can Koozie courtesy of Zombie Tools
No, it is not the knife that Crocodile Dundee carried in his iconic movie, but something tells me he would not mind having one of his own. >7” length, recurved blade for easy bacon-making (literally), nylon belt sheath for storage, and a set of grip panels that will never allow this blade to slip out of your hands. Plus, the knife has been engraved with HAVA’s logo, which only compounds the awesomeness.
“Ultimate New Shooter” Package

1x Otis Elite Cleaning Kit courtesy of Brownells
1x Brownells Pro Series Hearing Protection courtesy of Brownells
1x MagHolder courtesy of MagHolder.com
1x Nature Wars courtesy of Random House
I do not think there is a firearm made that kit cannot clean, and, with a noise reduction rating of 26 and active microphones and speakers, those muffs will protect your hearing but still let you hear range commands. You can read my review of Nature Wars here, but it is definitely worth your time.
“Organized New Shooter” Package
1x Otis Elite Cleaning Kit courtesy of Brownells
1x 2 Handgun Storage Rack, courtesy of Armory Racks
1x Nature Wars courtesy of Random House
1x I Don’t Hate Zombies T-Shirt (S, L, or 3XL) courtesy of Zombie Tools
You can read my review of the 2 Handgun Storage Rack here, but the long and the short of it is that it greatly simplifies storing handguns wherever it is you keep them… as its name probably suggests.
“Citizen Marksman” Package

1x Boomershoot Entry, including Friday and Saturday High Intensity events, Saturday dinner, and Sunday Long Range Event courtesy of Joe Huffman
1x Paul Revere’s Ride courtesy of Chris from AK
1x t-shirt from either the Misfires and Light Strikes or TeamGunblogger stores courtesy of ExurbanKev
Boomershoot hardly needs an introduction in my crowd, but if you are unfamiliar with it, here is the shortest description I can muster: you shoot explosive targets at long range. Yes, it is that awesome. I have not read David Hackett Fischer’s book yet, but it appears to document the reasons and motivations behind one of the major events that sparked the American Revolution, and, as such, it is worth a read by any patriot.
“Preparedness” Package
1x D.A.R.K. Complete Kit courtesy of Dark Angel Medical
1x Paul Revere’s Ride courtesy of Chris from AK
1x t-shirt from either the Misfires and Light Strikes or TeamGunblogger stores courtesy of ExurbanKev
When it comes to matters of life and death, trusting a company whose staff has in excess of 20 years combined medical experience between them seems like a mighty good start, especially when all of the materials that go into their kits are hand-chosen by them, based on that experience.
“EDC” Package

1x MagHolder courtesy of MagHolder.com
1x Magholder.com-branded folding knife courtesy of MagHolder.com
1x Nature Wars courtesy of Random House
1x I Don’t Hate Zombies T-Shirt (S, L, or 3XL) courtesy of Zombie Tools
These unique, injection-molded plastic magazine holders are designed to hold your magazines sideways, which greatly improves their comfort and wearability. You can read Skas’ review of them here.
“Carrying in Style” Package

1x Diablo Outside the Waistband Holster courtesy of Dragon Leatherworks
1x Munchkin courtesy of Skas
1x ENDO Apparel $25 Certificate courtesy of ENDO
I do not have a single-action revolver myself any more, but if you do have a Ruger Blackhawk or something else like it, how else would you want to carry it? And it only makes sense to include the awesome game I helped get him hooked on – if you have not played it, you should, and if you have, you know what I am talking about.
“Gunny Gamer” Package

1x MagHolder courtesy of MagHolder.com
1x Frag Gold Edition courtesy of Skas
1x ENDO Apparel $25 Certificate courtesy of ENDO
I cannot say as though I am overly familiar with “Frag”, but it’s official description speaks volumes: “a "first-person shooter" on a tabletop. Move your fighter and frag your foes. Draw cards for weapons, armor, and gadgets. Move through the blood spatters to restore your own health! If you die, you respawn and come back shooting!”
“Zombie Apocalypse Preparation” Package

1x 2 Handgun Storage Rack courtesy of Armory Racks
1x Munchkin Zombies courtesy of Skas
1x Zombie Che Guevera Hoodie (XL) courtesy of Zombie Tools
1x Ranger Up T-Shirt Certificate courtesy of Ranger Up
1x Can koozie courtesy of Eagles Nest Outfitters
I did not know what sizes my winners would be, nor what designs people will prefer (I rather like this one, myself), so you get your choice of one t-shirt from Ranger Up’s all-too-awesome lineup.
“Normal Apocalypse Preparation” Package

1x Munchkin Apocalypse, courtesy of Skas
1x Ranger Up T-Shirt Certificate courtesy of Ranger Up
1x I Don’t Hate Zombies T-Shirt (S, L, or 3XL) courtesy of Zombie Tools
1x Monderno PVC Morale Patch courtesy of Monderno
1x Can koozie courtesy of Eagles Nest Outfitters
Apocalypse is the newest, and, from what I hear, best installation of the Munchkin franchise… should be good training!
“Motte” Package
1x Russian Origami T-Shirt
1x “walls of the city” Sticker
1x “walls of the city” patch
This package and the next one might be a bit delayed, depending on the production schedule for the patches, but I will send it out as soon as I can. Regarding the Russian Origami t-shirts, hopefully you are a Large, X-Large, or XX-Large, because that is all I have left!
“Bailey” Package
1x Russian Origami T-Shirt
1x “walls of the city” Sticker
1x “walls of the city” patch
Miscellany:
As additional prizes become available (and I am working on more), I will add them here and update things accordingly. Likewise, if you are interested in donating a prize to this fundraiser and having your company featured here and in later posts, please let me know at “linoge (at) wallsofthecity (dot) net”.
Again, the drawing will be held at 1800 EDT on 01APR13, but get your donations in before 2359 EDT on 31MAR13, and get your receipts to me by 1700 EDT 01APR13. Last year we managed to raise over $2300 for Soldiers’ angels… how much do you think we can raise for Honored American Veterans Afield?
If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with me.
(Note: Neither this site nor this fundraiser is affiliated with nor endorsed by HAVA. I am doing this because I want to. HAVA is, however, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, so all donations are tax-deductible.)
(Obligatory FTC Notice: All prizes were donated by their respective originators, without any agreed-upon compensation or other conditions. Any advertising I give them is exclusively in thanks for their generosity.)
(All pictures and logos are copyright their respective owners.)

Thanks for throwing this together, Linoge. And thank you to all the sponsors. No one laugh about the games, they’re fun (at the very least I’m sure you know someone that’d enjoy them).
On top of the above prize packages and the end goal of getting as much money to HAVA as possible, my family and I will be matching dollar for dollar, the first $200 donated. My employer will then match that!
Lot of Munchkin. Has anyone considered contacting SJ Games? Are they already on-board?
@ Skas: Thanks for the game donations (I can personally attest at how awesome Munchkin is), and likewise thank you for doing the matching. Hopefully that will help get the ball rolling
.
@ Volfram: I have generally been keeping my corporate harassment limited to companies that are more firearm-related than Steve Jackson / Warehouse 23. Skas procured the games above himself, but I guess it would not hurt to ask…
That’s too funny! I don’t even have the patches actually finalized yet, yet alone MADE, and you are using it for the Boomershoot Logo
Cool!… I guess I’ll really HAVE to make them, now.
It was more a matter of Boomershoot not already having a logo, and me trying to figure out what to put up as their image, and then stealing that
. If something else is used, I might steal that instead…
@ Linoge:
It’s a sort of “posterization” of a pic I took, and am in the process of turning into a patch for sale, so I guess I’m as much the copyright holder as anyone, and I say you can use it, so I guess that makes it about as official as anything… kind’a funny that I might accidentally end up making the official Boomershoot logo more or less on a whim.

@ Linoge:
For what it’s worth, a new patch design is to be used, one that’s more generic, and rockers are available. See http://blog.joehuffman.org/2013/03/29/boomershoot-patch-update/ for details. Feel free to use the image. Trying to figure out how many to buy now, so if you want some just post there. Yes, you TOO can be an unindicted co-con!
Great news! I will have to get my order in soon.
… and figure out what I am putting all of my patches on…
