My father-in-law is going in for a heart valve replacement operation tomorrow… appealing to your appropriate deity (if applicable) probably would not hurt.
The last report I heard is that he is out of surgery without any problems, but they are keeping him on the respirator due to a past history of lung cancer (treated) and the damage it caused to his vocal cords / larynx. Seems to be in a fair bit of pain, but given they had to cool his core temperature down to 80, and literally break open his chest, I cannot blame him.
Here is to hoping the respiration expert arrives soon so they can get him back on his own lungs.
He comes out with a titanium chest plate, but I am not sure it is worth the trouble… that part, at least.
