I hope everyone had a fine and merry Christmas. For my part, I gave my nephew the gift of BoreSnake, since he recently purchased an AR-platform rifle*. I also showed Ophelia (and examples of the 300 AAC Blackout cartridges on which she feeds) to several relatives, all of whom approved of her.
* Shortly after arriving at my ancestral home on 23 December 2012, I showed Ophelia to my father. In the course of this showing, my father mentioned that my nephew had recently purchased an AR-platform rifle. The next day (24 December 2012), I decided to buy a BoreSnake for my nephew; fortunately, though the Friendly Local Gun Store was pretty much sold out of AR-specific items, it still had plenty of .22/.223 BoreSnakes in stock. As it turned out, even before my nephew opened the Christmas gift I had bought him (but after I had bought the BoreSnake), he told me that he needed to learn more about cleaning an AR-platform rifle….
@ Groundhog: And a Merry Christmas to the burrow as well .
@ AuricTech: Ah, the joys of actually cleaning ARs… those bloody lugs apparently work, but they leave something to be desired in the “maintenance” category…
@ Lord Sega: Unfortunately, they invariably sell out at least a month before Christmas. I waited around until after the holidays last year to get some on sale, but missed out entirely, so I left a note for myself this year. I would recommend doing the same .
random quotes
“No matter how one approaches the figures, one is forced to the rather startling conclusion that the use of firearms in crime was very much less when there were no controls of any sort and when anyone, convicted criminal or lunatic, could buy any type of firearm without restriction. Half a century of strict controls on pistols has ended, perversely, with a far greater use of this weapon in crime than ever before.” by Colin Greenwood
