As previously mentioned, Better Half and I are registered for the 06-07 Appleseed shoot in Manchester, TN, which raises the obvious questions – what evening do the blog readers, writers, and commenters in that area along with my fellow Appleseed attendees want to get together, and where?
On the one hand, Friday works better because we will not be dog tired and gross from spending all day out on the range, but on the other hand, folks coming in from out of town might or might not be planning on arriving until Saturday morning.
As for venue, we know next-to-nothing about the area, but Timberloft gets good reviews and The Celtic Cup looks like it could be fun.
So, thoughts?
Also, if you do plan on spending the night in the area, and do not already have a room, you might be too late – apparently there is some big cycling shindig that has gobbled up all the rooms, and we got one of the last ones available.

You are within “spittin distance” of the Jack Daniels distillery in Lynchburg. If you make reservations (maybe too late) you could get a room for 12 or so and some excellent southern vittles!
Interesting. Musta been the “S” word that tripped me up…
Interesting. What hotel are you guys staying at? I just booked a room at the Micro Inn & Suites (the one listed as the preferred hotel), and they said they had lots of rooms open.
@ DoyletooDoyle: Do you have any more info on that? Their site is not remarkably forthcoming…
And I do not think you have commented here before – all new email addresses are automatically held in moderation
.
@ Oddball: Ah, we are staying in Tullahoma, since it seems to be closer to the actual range than Manchester; that could be it.
I think @DoyletooDoyle might be referring to Miss Mary Bobo’s Boarding House but, alas, they are only open for lunch.
Timberloft’s in Manchester and I’ve only been there once and it was OK. I haven’t been to the Celtic Cup and I’ve always wanted to try it.
I’ve been trying to think of other places to suggest but I hesitate to since, besides the usual casual dining joints like Applebee’s, Red Lobster, Ruby Tuesday’s, Logan’s or O’Charleys, the selection is mainly Mexican or Chinese. There are a few local Italian-style places (typically Greek run); namely J & G’s (Manchester), Gondola’s (Tullahoma) or Rafael’s (Manchester and Tullahoma). There is a French-American place in Tullahoma called Emil’s that’s more upscale.
Any idea how many might potentially be meeting up?
Better Half and I are considering going over a day early to check out the distilleries, so we might stop by the Boarding House anywise
.
And there ain’t nothin’ wrong with Mexican or Chinese, the two restaurants I named were just the ones that stood out on account of reviews or names. No idea on a count yet, aside from Better Half, you, Oddball, Oleg, and me.
The Celtic Cup sounds like a good spot and has a private room as well. Let me know if I can make any arrangements for y’all. By the way, you may want to call Miss Mary’s to make reservations since it can have quite a crowd.
Yeah, we found a review online of Mary’s that was quite explicit about the need to get your reservations in early, keep them, and, in fact, show up 15 minutes early to accept them. Interesting place
