is his mouth open?

People have asked me why I choose to support Gary Johnson in his current bid for the Presidency, rather than the arguably more-familiar third party candidate with approximately the same leanings, Ron Paul.

This is why:

Paul is occasionally right, but he is always a loon.

“Paul is occasionally right, but he is always a loon.”

Could not have said it better myself! While I normally throw my vote away by voting third party (at least that is what my wife tells me), I think I’ll actually be going mainstream this year for Romney. I’m not a big fan, but I think its important that the current administration be removed from power, and Romney is going to need all the votes he can to accomplish this feat. The sting is reduced somewhat by the fact that I do like Ryan; the Libertarian in me thinks he has some potential.

  • Dave Mustane (before he also went nuts) said it best,

“Ron Paul is like insecticide: 98% of it is harmless, but that other 2% is lethal.”

  • Also while he has some really novel ideas for Government reform he has NO EARTHLY IDEA HOW TO ACTUALLY DO ANY OF IT

  • @ JTwig: I have concluded that I am tired of voting against someone, and I am doubly tired of voting in a way that compromises my honor. Romney supports and whole-heartedly endorses things that I find absolutely antithetical to America, and thus I cannot bring myself to support him, even if only to remove someone whose actions and beliefs likewise run against those that America was founded upon. I may not agree with all of Johnson’s positions either, but it is more a matter of scale in his case, and less a “that is completely unacceptable”.

@ ExurbanKevin: Wow. Had not heard that before, but it is hilarious!

@ Weer’d Beard: Bah. Practice doesn’t matter. Only theory matters!

Chief justice Eric Holder! Get rid of that dickhead in the white house. Job One

  • I would, of course, point out that electing a third party President would succeed in doing exactly that.
