I do not know a darned thing about the book, not having had a chance to read it yet, but I at least know of the author, Rob Robideau, and, if nothing else, "free is free": today only, his new book, Tactical Bible Stories: Personal Security Tips from the Bible, is a free digital download from Amazon, and the paperback is offered "at cost" (though I think he might have included an extra zero in that "cost"). From his email announcing it:

The Bible has fantastic examples of tactics, concepts, and ideas that are still used and taught by modern security professionals. This stereotype-busting book takes the most important aspects of personal security and uses Bible stories as illustrations to make them fun and easy for anyone to understand, remember, and apply.

- Was David’s sling a wise choice for his fight with Goliath? Why?
- How did Jesus show us the importance of keeping our distance?
- Did Gideon’s minuscule army make sense tactically? Why?

Tactical Bible Stories is written very simply for those who aren’t self-defense experts or tactical aficionados and the author hopes that the different perspective will help the information to reach a new group of people and help them to become safer.

Tactical Bible Stories is being officially released on Tuesday, June 5th and for the entire day, the ebook will be free and the paperback will be available at cost. The book has already received rave reviews from both law enforcement officers and firearms instructors for its simple, conversational style and practical advice from a unique perspective. The author believes that this book will make a huge difference in people’s lives and he wants to get it into the hands of as many people as possible.

I have already downloaded my copy, so if you miss out on this, I can always "lend" it to you, however the hell that works.

And on a slightly-less-short-notice deal, Flipside Wallets is offering $5 off your purchase with the coupon code "DAD". As you might recall, I reviewed my Flipside Wallet, provided a follow-up, and have been generally impressed with it overall; I will probably be exploiting that discount code to snag a FlipsideKick since, despite my best efforts, I have too many cards for the wallet as is.

  • Thanks for the notice. Picked up my copy and had it sent to my phone….should make for a couple of interesting blog posts if the rest is like the first couple of pages I perused.

  • Got it. Thanks!

  • …not unless it’s DRM free. I don’t appreciate being considered a thief by default.

That’s why I love Baen ebooks. Any format I could possibly want, AND DRM-free! I can download them as many times as I want, and put them on any device I want.

  • @ Bob S.: Yeah, I figured it would be good inspiration material if nothing else.

    @ Brick: No worries :) .

@ John Hardin: *shrug* Your call; gone now.

@ cspradlin: No disagreement there, but Baen has been something of an exception since it was founded.

  • MAJ Mike

Got it free on my Kindle. Thanks for the heads up.

  • Not a problem. Shame Amazon was stupid about the price of the hardcopy…

Added the bible to my wish list, and signed up for flipside’s mailing list. Probly pick one up in a few weeks, or the next time they go on sale, whatever’s sooner.

  • Awesome. I have been pretty happy with the Flipside, though you have to get used to carrying less in your wallets… not that that is such a big sacrifice.
