one-line review – ghost rider: spirit of vengeance

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance – It was definitely a product of Eastern European cinema, and I am not terribly fond of their changing The Rules (specifically, he can Rider-out, and stay that way, while the sun is up and shining on him) or the backstory, but it was totally worth it for the “taking a leak while Rider’d” scene.

  • I just can’t help but feel that it’s one of those “The first one was so good and successful, they just had to make a sequel!”

    Kinda like Garfield 2…

  • I dunno, it did improve on the concept at least a little, specifically with the rendition of the Rider – he was a lot hotter, and a lot more… bubbly. Also very barrel-chested, which I was not fond of, but definitely… meaner.

At the same time, they pretty much ruined the whole “sucking your soul out” effect.

Dunno. Nick Cage was having fun, so I was mostly having fun.

  • @ Linoge:
That’s something, at least. When you can tell the people involved are having fun, it can make up for scores of deficiencies.

  • They missed the opportunity for a certain character to use a katana instead of a scimitar. It would’ve been a great shout out.

If Nic Cage is in it, I’ll probably go see it, even if it’s only to see how insane he is.

  • @ bluesun: Agreed. I have suffered through all kinds of craptacular movies just because the actors involved were having the times of their lives. And, on the flip side, no amount of CG will make up for crappy casting.

@ wfgodbold: Agreed – I was a bit surprised to see him in that role. Likewise a bit surprised at Anthony Stewart Head, but he was barely around long enough to make a dent.
