While you and I and most of the rest of the world were getting well and truly sloshed to celebrate the passing of a somewhat blah year and celebrate the arrival of a new one we can all screw up all over again, Our Glorious President was busy literally signing our rights away.
I still have not decided what else to say in addition to what I have already said in regards to the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012, but I do believe it is time to start checking your inventories, training levels, and willpower. We have no idea how the new powers granted by this bill will be abused, but the options are damned near limitless.

Hope hope hopidy dopity hope.
Hope and Change, ya’ll!
So *this* is what our Messiah wants of us! To possibly rot in a cell so he can sit at a banquet table bragging about how safe he’s made us…
The worst part was the fscking signing statement. He promises (and really, what is a 0bama promise worth nowadays?) not to use the unconstitutional powers he signed into law, but he’s more than willing to grant them to the next person who will “continue the Bush legacy.”
Again, (and I wish I was only kidding), but if you apply the Heller standard to this law, then someone will actually have to be given indefinite detention by the Feds first, and THEN apply for access to the courts in a written statement, and THEN actually receive that written statement back with a signed written rejection statement at the bottom, and then somehow get access to the lawyer that the detained is not allowed to see, so the lawyer can file a lawsuit in the courts that prisoner is forbidden to access by statute. Then possibly the supremes can strike down this clearly unconstitutional law.
I’m sure as hell gonna try, but it looks more and more like there is no way we can vote ourselves out of this mess.
@ bluesun: Well, he certainly is changing the type of country this is…
@ the dude: Remember, it is all for your own good!
@ Standard Mischief: Do not even get me started on that idiotic, half-assed, moronic “statement” – “just because I support this bill does not mean I agree with it fully”. Hey, dumbass – “support” MEANS “agree with”! I hate to think what his parents paid for his education…
That necessary chain of events has always befuddled me… anyone affected by a law, even if they cannot prove damages, has standing in my eyes, but our courts seem to believe otherwise. Which means laws like this one are here for the forseeable future, for exactly that reason…
