“The constitutions of most of our States assert, that all power is inherent in the people;that they may exercise it by themselves, in all cases to which they think themselves competent,... or they may act by representatives, freely and equally chosen; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed; that they are entitled to freedom of person, freedom of religion, freedom of property, and freedom of the press.”
by John Dewey The Living Thoughts of Thomas Jefferson, pp.46 - 47

a great way to dip your toes

It is always interesting when newbie recreational shooters recount their experiences with firearms, especially when they just happen to be female since, according to the "gun control" extremists, female shooters either do not exist or are only forced to participate by their husbands/significant others, but it is even more interesting still when those newbie shooters go out of their ways to help other newbie shooters:

The prize:

I will pay $300 towards any reputable beginning self defense shooting course in the United States.

Who Can Enter:

Any female who is interested in taking the next step in learning how to defend herself in the event that she may need to. I would really prefer it be a new shooter that hasn’t had any formal training to this point.

How To Enter:

Leave a comment specifically saying you would like to enter or email me at "agirlandhergun (at) gmail (dot) com" subject Give-A-Way.

This will run from January 3, 2012- February 3, 2012 at midnight and must be redeemed by September 2012.

On February 4, 2012, I will put the names into a "hat" and pick one. That person will have until September 2012 to register for a class and when she does, I will send the $300 to the school/course/instructor.

Hell of a deal being offered there, and at no actual cost to you, so, really, what do you have to lose? And to make the deal even better, some helpful gunbloggers have donated additional rounds of ammunition to the cause to drive the price of training down even farther.

While the Navy successfully managed to teach me that there very much is such a thing as "bad" training, I am still of the opinion that there is no such thing as "too much" (good) training, especially not for someone who may not have received any training in the relevant field to begin with. So, if you are female and considering acquiring your handgun carry permit, learning more about firearms in general, or just getting into the shooting sports with a literal bang, all you have to do is leave a comment or send an email – so easy a cavewoman could do it?
