quote of the day – robb allen

One of the many things that sets pro-rights advocates apart from "gun control" extremists is that our positions are generally based on facts, truth, reality, and what actually works, while theirs are generally… not. Recently, there has been no better example of this disparity than the behavior of the "Mayors Against Illegal Guns".

Regular readers will already be aware of the fact that MAIG members are convicted of crimes more often than "average" citizens, and considerably more often than handgun carry permit holders, so unethical and immoral activities from them should not really be all too surprising; however, even I have to blink at MAIG signing a dead man’s name to a whole collection of letters, advertisements, and propaganda that were all published long after his death.

MAIG has a history of lying about their members in order to inflate their numbers and make themselves appear more powerful than they actually are (not hard, considering their power base is negligible to begin with), but, really, using a dead man’s name to continue supporting your organization after his death? That is all manner of scumbaggish, and if Mayor Tim Martin has an estate, I would think they would have standing for a very entertaining lawsuit.

Or, as Robb put it in today’s quote of the day:

Again, if you have to lie to support your beliefs, you are wrong. If you must pad your numbers with dead people and ignore people’s requests to be removed from your rolls, you have already lost the game.

The good news is that the anti-rights cultists‘ lies are already coming back to haunt them – Weer’d Beard used to support "gun control" until he started noticing those lies; my father was a fence-sitter until the deranged misrepresentations of an obvious loon encouraged him to start bearing arms; Michael Bonomo (MikeB302000) was banned from Daily Kos for his ceaseless libel and misrepresentations; Sean Sorrentino started weblogging to address the lies fielded by a particularly zealous cultist… The list just goes on and on about how the lies of "gun control" extremists have only served to damage their position, and yet they keep on doing it.

Oh well. Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake, especially a mortal one.

  • That’s the big problem with balancing your ideology on a lie.

Of course its a very popular plot point in classic and modern film and literature. Logan’s Run, Ninteen Eighty-Four, Brave New World, even the Matrix involves a character rebelling against a huge lie pulled over his eyes.

And the reaction is NEVER subtle. Trust me on this one! :)

  • If I had to guess, that is pretty much the primary reason why “gun control” is currently failing on almost every front – with the advent of the internet and all of the information it literally puts at your fingertips, people are able to more-quickly ascertain what is true and what is false and act accordingly.

It must suck not to be able to control the message any more.
