Myth: "Assault weapons" are never used for hunting!
Reality: Dunno. That deer looks pretty dead to me. (Note: PETA members and those with weak constitutions should probably not click on any links in this post.)
One just has to love the last picture in the write-up over at ITS Tactical – of the 12 hunting rifles being displayed, only one would not fall under an "assault weapon ban", and we have already discussed how stupid that distinction is. And it should go without saying that this little jaunt was organized for the express purpose of hunting…

Oooh, new Brady Scare Campaign: Transforming Assault Rifles! Transforms from benign hunting rifle to deadly assault weapon with a click-pull-snap, just take out the 5 round magazine you use for hunting and put in the 20 rounder!
“Myth: “Assault weapons” are never used for hunting!”
I hate that we even have to have this argument in the first place. I have nothing against hunting, and may even try it someday, but it has jack all to do with the Second Amendment. I’m not necessarily saying that people don’t have a right to harvest their own game, but that I don’t think that is what the 2nd is about at all.
They’re trying to steer the controversy in the wrong direction, because then it’ll be ‘you don’t need to hunt’. Not to mention they’ll try to illegitimate guns that really aren’t used for hunting, like most pistols (carry guns, not the large hunting revolvers).
@bluesun-
Unfortunately, I think that little joke might touch on some future Brady scare tactic. They very well might try to attack a rifle’s ability to be ‘transformed’ as a reason it should be banned or guns in general shouldn’t have interchangeable parts.
@pyrotek85- amen, bro, amen.
@ the dude:
Meh, if it’s gonna happen, it’s gonna happen, and that particular argument isn’t going to win anyone over to their side who isn’t already a firm believer, to far gone for the truth to reach.
@ bluesun: Gyah. Do not go giving them ideas, especially given that just about any magazine-fed semi-automatic rifle can be turned into an “assault weapon” these days with aftermarket parts and kits…
Of course, most of these anti-rights organizations have already made it clear they want to ban all semi-automatic rifles, so I guess broadening their public hysteria would not be unexpected.
@ Pyrotek85: You will get absolutely no disagreement on me on any of your points, but I still think it is important to take delight in the schaedenfreud of the “gun control” extremists still being wrong even when they artificially limit the conversation to benefit themselves
.
They can try to steer the debate all they like. They will still fail.
@ the dude: Given that ARs can take a variety of .50 uppers, it, indeed, is only a matter of time before they embark down that moronic path.
