If I were to implement a functionality that allowed you to log into this site using Twitter, Facebook, OpenID, or any of the other social media / universal identity systems out there, would you use it? In essence, all this would do would be bind your comments to that particular login account, should you have one primary one you prefer using.
I only ask because the plugin requires a non-zero amount of effort to set up, and if people will not use it, I am not going to bother.

Don’t bother on my behalf – I don’t do “social” media of any sort. Then again, I’m funny that way…
Social networks = blech.
But someone else might want it. Just as long as it doesn’t try to “encourage” people to LIKE THIS POST ON FACEBOOK as some things try to do.
After all the work I went through to get a gravatar?
Please DON’T do this. I don’t use social media of any kind, and all the “universal login” systems, like OpenID, cause me no end of trouble. I have lost more posts to login failures than any other cause.
Plus, I don’t like having so many of my activities tied together.
I use the big book of face, but honestly, all my blogreading happens on google reader. Its kind of a non-start for me. Others may care more… as long as the free ice cream keeps coming, do what you want.
Count me out, I already feel that I’m too well identified.
For clarity, much like the fruity oat bars, this would not be mandatory – you could still be as anonymous as your username and email address let you be.
Meh. You kids with your FaceTube!
Of course this is coming from someone who thinks that color movies and those new-fangled cartridge guns are just a passing fad, heh.
I’m with the rest. But Remember Fruity Oaty Bars make the man out of the mouse!

I do facebook but I wouldn’t bind it. Ever.
I’d not use it, rather “log in” like this with my blog link, which is NOT linked to my Facebook.
I don’t really care if you add it, as long as I don’t have to use it to comment, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t add a button to “share this!” that pops open just cause my mouse cursor got to close to it…..
So the consensus seems to be that if I get bored, some people might use it, but otherwise, most people do not care… fair enough.
I only asked because some fellow gunbloggers were talking about how the Disqus system made logging into multiple sites easy through their universal login, and while I have no desire to replace my commenting system entirely with theirs, I can definitely see the use of providing common login support.
And I have no intentions of adding any more intrusive social buttons than the ones that already follow the post – not only are those reactive things annoying, they increase loadtimes by a fair bit.
Absolutely not if it’s required; but if it’s optional, meh. I won’t use it.
I do like Disqus, but won’t ask you to do that degree of surgery on your site.
I prefer the current system. I don’t even *have* a FB account and my LJ is pretty dormant.
How social am I? None. I do NO social networks. Nor will I do social networks.
I use a number of various social media, and never had any problem posting, so I see no need for the effort on your part.
