bacon and boomsticks

Unfortunately, our travel plans for the weekend will preclude me from participating in this noble endeavor, but I wholeheartedly approve of and support it:

A week or so ago, there was a discussion on Twitter about how we should mark the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

One person suggested that we all cook and eat pork, and shoot our guns. This is a most elegant demonstration of our disdain for the Muslims who committed this cowardly attack – to show them that the American spirit is not deterred, and is, in fact, committed to showing them contempt at every turn.

Thus, Bacon and Boomsticks was born.

So, we invite you to mark the day in your own way, hopefully involving pork products of all kinds, and firearms of all kinds. Take photos and videos, and send them to us at baconandboomsticks "at" gmail "dot" com. We will then post them here to share. Let us know in your email if you want to be identified or not.

So get out there and send some rounds downrange for me!

I think eating bacon (or anything else) to celebrate the American spirit is a great idea. However, I think the idea that Muslims committed the atrocity of September 11, 2001 is misguided.

I know that al-Qaeda SAYS it does what it does to further Islam, but it’s lying. Many Muslims fall for al-Qaeda’s lie, but most don’t. We shouldn’t fall for it either, or we’ll have a much harder time destroying them.

  • Muslims did commit the atrocities of 9/11, just like Christians committed the atrocities of the Inquisition.

The Muslim faith, however, did not.

I went to high school with a surprising number of Muslims (at a Roman Catholic school, no less). I know full well how peaceful that particular faith can be. However, it is foolish to blind ourselves to the rampant, fundamentalist, extremist violence running loose in its ranks.

    Yeah, that’s what I meant.

  • Fair enough, then :) .
