By now, everyone should be aware of the fact that I like using graphics to explain/illustrate complex concepts in relatively simple forms, so it should come as no surprise that I thoroughly approve of this rendition of our nation’s debt.
Make no mistake – this is a debt that the previous generations, and now my generation, have carefully and deliberately foisted upon future generations through the creation, perpetuation, and encouragement of all of the various entitlement and spending programs our government currently "enjoys", even to the point of allowing government-run investment programs to be transformed into Ponzi-scheme money-sinks (*cough* Social Security *cough*). It is all too easy to blame the politicians and Presidents of the past and present for the financial situation of our country, but the honest truth is that you voted them into office, and you kept re-electing them as they slowly drove our country into financial ruin.
And here we are, faced with a pile of debt that could literally crush small cities when translated into actual currency… it almost seems like a science fiction movie, until you remember you are living it.

Yet again, I realize that we’re pretty much fucked. Not sure how the next few centuries are going to be anything other than slavery.
Meh, I’ve got enough land, friends, family, and neighbors to make a decent subsistence living if the SHTF for real.
Oh, and guns. Lots and lots of guns.
@ Ted N: Bit frightening, is it not? Seeing abstract numbers on a screen is one thing… seeing the literal pile of money? Holy crap.
@ the Dude: Unfortunately, I dare say you are in the minority…
