how we win

Remember how my father decided to join the NRA and buy a Remington R1 1911* on the basis of a particularly deranged editorial by an anti-rights cultist (and hopefully some encouragement from my scribblings here)?

Remember how he got his carry permit?

And remember how my mother has a carry permit now too?

Well, over the weekend, I discovered that not only has my father purchased a Talon holster from Dragon Leatherworks**, but my mother just picked up her very own Walther PPK/S, and is shopping around for some leather herself. Oh, and my mother is encouraging my father to purchase any other firearms he might be interested in before Our Glorious President goes and does something stupid with regards to “gun control”.

This is me, doing a happy little dance.

“Freedom” and “liberty” are both infectious, communicable mental diseases, and I am very glad to see that my entire family appears to have been afflicted. This is how we win, folks – one person at a time, one family at a time, one community at a time, and so forth, so on, all the way across the country… That tactic has worked in the past, it is working now, and we will steadily move on to the victory we desire – where individual rights are respected and honored throughout our great nation – so long as we keep up the trend.

* – Review will be forthcoming eventually – it had some warranty issues, and I am waiting to see how the factory handles it.

** – And in an amusing stroke of internet humor, I actually found out from Dennis before my father told me…

Had a chat with Dennis the other day. Awesome guy, looking forward to my holster.

Wish I could get my parents into it all. Mom used to shoot when she was a kid, but they live in one of the Occupied Territories, so no-go.

  • BTW Dennis’ holsters for the Bursa .380 will also fit the PPK.

Joe Huffman did accept this as an acceptable answer to his “Just One Question”. When sweeping gun control gets passed or attempted to get passed it turns fair weather gunnies, and fence sitters into rabid gun-nuts. (BTW I was pro-gun for years, and then I moved to Massachusetts, and I had a half-dozen guns in the first year I got my permit.)

Restrictive laws gets people curious on WHY there is interest in such laws. In the case of gun control its all based on lies, misinformation, and covering for blatant criminal activity.

Now with the internet the truth is easily available to all interest. But like a horse to water, the people need to be honestly curious.

  • @ Heather: The guy is enthusiastic about his trade and friendly as all hell – something tells me you will be satisfied with his work :) .

The funny thing is that I did not really do anything to guide my parents down this path… I mean, we talked about me carrying and my permit, I offered to take them to the range when they visited (Dad and I did), I gave them the shotgun, etc., but it was, as Weer’d says, the anti-rights nuts who seem to have finally pushed them over the edge.

@ Weer’d Beard: Given they are damned-near clones of one another, that makes sense ;) .

Between that anti’s spittle-flecked editorial, and Obama’s most-recent “gun control” grab, I dare say you hit the nail squarely on the head – my mother was actually encouraging my father to go out and buy some stuff over the weekend!
