more people will pass the quiz

Thanks to some generous linking to my pop quiz post from The High Road, The Liberal Gun Club, and OK Shooters, Tuesday is going to be ranked as my second-most busy day – apparently those sites wield a hell of a lot of traffic, and I appreciate every bit of the attention guys!

As a reminder, enacting “gun control” as an attempt to control crime simply does not make sense:

… just like using the “public safety” argument to support “gun control” does not make any sense either:

And speaking of putting numbers in context, one of the readers at OK Shooter had this take on the first above image:

To give further perspective, and to give an idea of how you fit in as an individual, if you go to the graph with text inserted, the dot over the "i" in "crimes" is about 4 pixels, which would represent an average family.

And now you can really get a grasp on how many millions of law-abiding firearm-owning families’ and individuals’ rights are being unjustly abridged for the sake of “doing something!”

But, then again, anti-rights cultists and “gun control” supporters have never exactly been noted for their firm grasp of numbers, reality, or the truth.  Hopefully through the additional exposure of my easily-understood graphics, however, my fellow pro-rights activists will be able to point out the innumerable fallacies of “gun control” whenever they rear their ugly little heads.

  • It’s the brain-cells they use, reflected in similar fashion.

I’d love to see this done with alcohol related deaths. You know, DUI’s (especially when the drunk is killed since suicide by firearm is always included in “firearm deaths”), DUI’s which kill others, drunkin rage killings, death by alcohol poisoning, death by your liver (alcoholic death), etc. I am betting that it’s a smaller number of people that consumer alcohol, yet the death numbers are MUCH higher.

  • @ DirtCrashr: Damn. You are positively pwning with those one-liners ;) .

@ Matthew R: Hm. I will have to investigate whether or not the CDC keeps track of things like that. I know they break out firearm- and car-related, but I am not sure if they break out all total alcohol-related deaths.

  • Hey Linoge-

I did an updated version of your graphic which should make the difference even more stark.

    You can see it here:

I created a pattern in PhotoShop of alternating pixels, and then filled the image with that, so now if you zoom in close enough, you can see the individual pixels instead of just a solid color.

  • That sounds awesome, Justin, but as I mentioned over at THR, it would appear as though the attachment freaked out – probably a size or dimension problem. Could you shoot it to me in an email at ‘linoge (at) wallsofthecity (dot) net’ (with the understanding that I will likely post it shortly after receiving it ;) )? Thanks!
