battle: los angeles

Battle: Los Angeles: If you remember the horrifically craptacular Skyline, this movie was everything that one was not – engaging, exciting, suspensful, sufficiently explody, and one hell of a commercial for the United States Marine Corps.

  • Never speak of Skyline again.

I was ready to pass on Battle:LA since its effects are done by the Skyline guys, but I guess they can follow directions just fine; it’s only because Skyline was their own movie and they could go full George Lucas on it that it turned out to be terrible.

How bad was the shaky cam?

It’s basically Independence Day updated for 2011.

  • @ wfgodbold: For me, the shakycam was hardly noticeable in all but a few scenes, and definitely added some reality to the door-kicking scenes. Others (like the writer of Schlock Mercenary) had significantly less appreciation for it. I figure if you are going to be playing with the Marines, you might as well make it look like it…

@ AntiCitizenOne: But from the groundpounder point of view exclusively, which at least changed something ;) .
