dialing in a dead zero

Regular readers may remember that the good folks at Simon and Schuster were going to send me a copy of Stephen Hunter‘s new book, Dead Zero… well, I just received notification from my contacts there that my copies are in the mail and headed towards me.

Yes, copies, as in plural, as in “three”.

What am I going to do with the other two copies? Well, as regular readers may also remember, I am trying to raise money for Ramon Castillo’s recovery fund, after he fought off three armed attackers and protected his wife, his business, and himself in the process.

So, by way of encouragement for my readers to take part, here is what is going to happen to those two spare copies ofDead Zero: if, since 29DEC10, you have donated directly to Ramon Castillo’s fund, or purchased anything through my sponsored links, shoot me an email (linoge [at] wallsofthecity [dot] net) with a screencapture or copy of your receipt for the same. I will number those emails as I receive them, and on the 30th of this month, when I send in whatever money I have collected, I will hold a random number drawing for those two books, and mail them, on my dime, to the winners.

As I write this post, I know of between two and four people who have used my affiliate links, so if they see this, their odds are pretty good, as would yours be if you decide to purchase something in the coming few weeks, or donate directly. And speaking of, just to make everything clear again, I will be sending any profits from any purchases through my affiliate links and advertisements (until about 1800 on 30JAN) to Ramon Castillo’s fund – I will not see a dime of it, I may add some of my own to it, and I have been trying to get some additional sponsors (though with limited success).
