Today, we are going to return to the tactic that prompted me to create this category in the very beginning… In Southern Beale’s latest anti-gun screed, she started off whining and moaning about how her previous anti-rights blather seemed to attract some less-than-salutory comments and attention; however, I find it all too amusing that she would wish nearly a hundred million Americans dead (which she did in that previous post), and then try to claim the moral high ground… but, hey, double-standards are pretty much a way of life for the modern “liberal“.
At any rate, what we are really interested in is the end of Southern Beale’s latest “gunz r bad, mmmkay?” diatribe, wherein she wrote the below quote… except for one, and only one, word that I changed.
Tennessee is a nice place to live. Nashville is a nice city. One always hears that it’s “a great place to raise a family.” Bringing negroes into every school, church, restaurant, bar, park, etc. will change that spirit. And I don’t like it.
Again, to clarify, the above blockquote was lifted verbatim from Southern Beale’s webpage, except for one word, and one word only, that I changed – can you guess which one?
However, altering a scant 2.3% of the above sentence certainly does not distract from the bigotry, intolerance, and discrimination running rampant throughout it… but, then, I forget; that kind of behavior is lauded and celebrated – if not encouraged – by modern “liberals“/”progressives”. Silly me. Regardless, while SoBeale’s prejudice might have been acceptable on the plantations of the Prebellum South, and while narrow-minded comments like that might have even been approved of as late as the 1960s and 1970s, the simple truth is that she is gradually, but assuredly, relegating herself to the same wastebin of history currently being populated with racists, homophobes, mysoginists, and all the rest of those hateful individuals.
Given the vicious hatred SoBeale spews on a daily basis, she will be in good company.
As agreed by all nine Supreme Court Justices, the Second Amendment protects an individual, pre-existing, civil right, and given that there are now two Supreme Court cases clarifying what should have already been obvious, it is not going to be vanishing any time soon. Due to this cold, hard reality, there is absolutely no reason why discriminating against one Constitutionally-protected right (keeping and bearing arms) is acceptable, but discriminating against another (equal treatment under the law) is not. Likewise, gun ownership just keeps increasing, and the number of people with handgun carry permits (or their equivalents) continues to grow, and yet violent crime rate keep dropping, and there is still no correlation between gun ownership and firearm-related fatalities (which means there cannot be a causation).
Regardless of whether bigoted anti-rights nuts like SoBeale “like it” or not, my rights to keep and bear firearms are here to stay, and are even returning to the levels they should have enjoyed for all of the past 200+ years. Hoplophobes can either get used to that reality, or they can join their fellow racists, homophobes, and other discriminatory zealots as we appropriately “crush them and drive them into political extinction“. The choice is theirs.

Let’s see if this survives her moderation…
But remember such comparisons can’t be made because guns are DIFFERENT. Guns are always different, and must be looked at differently than anything else because guns are different. “Gun Death” is different, “Gun Crime” is different, “Gun Shows” are different, and “Gun Shops” are different because guns are different.
Guns are different because guns are different!
Gun ownership keeps rising up as their dreams of a totalitarian future come crumbling down…
@John Hardin –
John – I was the one who originally made the blog / free speech comparison which she took exception to (commenting anonymously of course)
Your rebuttal was excellent. I’m glad she let it through, since she moderated mine out of existence.
I love sharing my thoughts about guns, gun violence, and gun policy. Without fail my blog gets trolled by gun loons,
She admits she likes the attention — maybe there is a symptom of Hoplophobia that we have missed — attention seeking syndrome.
They come over to my blog to whine about how I won’t let them trash me or my regulars with comment spam.
Notice how they all say they want to talk about it but when people of different opinions show up they don’t really? What they want is the attention.
It’s thuggery, pure and simple: I know this because one of my regular trolls once promised to call off the dogs if I’d stop blogging about guns.
Notice how she fails to link to the comment in question, to quote from the original email? Wonder if she is related to Alan Baird?
That said, there’s a difference between my liberal gun friends and the ideological purists who deny guns pose any danger at all, who claim that all CCW permit holders are always responsible, and pretend that guns are as innocuous as Bic pens.
Again a failure to link to any citations or evidence that pro-rights advocates have made such claims.
I used to think we shouldn’t link to the MikeB302000′s, the Sobeale’s or the Joan Petersons. I’ve changed my mind, in part; I think we should link to them and show their derision for our rights (but not theirs), their inconsistent, chaotic, and illogical positions.
Let’s run their sites up high in the search page rankings — let people find how they spew idiotic statements on a regular basis.
I want to know what these “liberal gun friends” of hers think of all the issues out there, and what kind of people are they, are they weekend warriors or do they train real hard?
@John Hardin – Looks like it made it, though she predictably missed the point completely… Did you try to put up any other comments after your response to her response?
@Weer’d Beard – Oh, right, I keep forgetting to call initializecircularlogic() before writing up these posts… I really need to update my code
.
@bluesun – And that is the real crux of the matter, is it not? An armed populace can, and will (as history has shown us) resist against oppressive governments… and given that 90% of the pipe dreams these people have would qualify as “oppressive”, they understand that they are going to get nowhere without disarming us first.
Sucks for them that that is not going to happen.
@mike w. – It really is convenient how she incessantly moderates things out of existance, and then can sit back and claim, “I was attacked,” “I was harrassed,” “Those big mean gunnies said nasty things about me,” and so forth. There is no evidence of such things, given that she deleted the supposed comments, but her sycophants and hangers-on are all-too-eager and willing to take her at her worthless word.
With her current moderation scheme, she can claim anything, and no one can dare challenge her. As I said, convenient.
@Bob S. – I am still firmly of the opinion that linking to rabidly (and potentially insanely) anti-rights nuts only serves to unduly encourage them and provide them indirect, but noticeable, support… however, I can definitely see where you are coming from. I agree that it would be a worthwhile tactic once we are entirely sure that most people stumbling across their deranged rantings would be able to identify them as such, rather than being sucked in by the logical fallacies and “popular” verbage.
I guess that is the question…
@AntiCitizenOne – Something tells me those “liberal gun friends” are about as “real” as those attacking comments that no one has ever seen but SoBeale herself…
@Linoge: I haven’t responded yet; I want to think carefully about how to drag her back on-topic, and decide how much time to spend debating her. When liberal antis start asking “well, why don’t we ever see you wackos on the right objecting to all the other myriad infringements of our freedoms that the government commits?” you know they are either trying to avoid the topic at hand or have gotten distracted.
Is is only coincidence that “waste bin” is an anagram of “web stain”?
@John Hardin – In SoBeale’s case, it is almost invariably the former, from previous experience with her… Generally that is a pretty solid indication that you successfully guided her into painting herself into a corner, and she knows she has no way out, so she will toss out some tangential bit of hate-inducing nonsense that her friends will latch on to, and if you do not, she moderates your comments out of existance.
Been there. Done that. Got tired of it. So I get to expose her idiocy here. It works
.
@Sendarius – Probably, but coincidence is God’s way of remaining anonymous.
…aaaand Reasoned Discourse has broken out, after her posting a closing comment that was just reeking with bigotry.
I guess I should have responded to her last night instead of watching How To Train Your Dragon…
Well, not to say “I told you so,” but I pretty much figured that from the very beginning… She gets tired of having her irrational and nonsensical arguments batted down like shuttlecocks, claims “abuse” or “personal attacks” or whatnot (and I guess showing liberals the facts would qualify as both of those things), and then closes down the comments. Of course, you never get to see those “abusive” comments…
And, honestly, I think your time was better spent.
