well that feels a little wierd

Over the years, I have become rather accustomed to waking up with at least one of my limbs still soundly asleep, and completely disfunctional – just one of those things. However, waking up in the middle of the night, face down in your pillow, with both arms asleep… yeah, that is going to lead to a few flail-filled, entertaining minutes…

I have, on occasion, woken up and been completely unable to move or talk above a whisper. All I can do is breath and blink. Usually happens when I’m in a position that makes it hard to breath. Rather not fun experience.

  • Hey, it’s better than waking up and not being able to find your leg…

  • Happens to me all the time……

  • @Stan – I think there is a term for that… Forgotten what it is, but it occurs a lot more often than folks might think. Either way, I am quite thankful I have never had to experience that though – limbs being out cold, I can deal with. Not being able to move at all might concern me a speck.

@mike w. – True. I got nothin’ that can even come close to that.

@Patrick – I get single arms or hands, but both is something of an irregularity.

  • Been there, done that. That minute or two of trying to flop around so the circulation to your arms can be restored when you can’t use your arms to flip yourself over does get a bit interesting.

If someone was watching, I bet they would find it pretty hilarious.

  • Pretty much describes the situation perfectly… I ended up with one limb still underneath me, but after a few minutes, the other arm woke up and I was able to sort myself out. But. Damn. Hell of a thing to wake up to :) .

  • I’ve managed to sleep with my arm crossed underneath my body a few times, then when my alarm went off I was able to move it at the shoulder in an attempt to hit the snooze button… but instead ended up bashing my hand hard on the corner of my night table. Its one of those moments when you’re thinking *damn that is gonna hurt like hell when it wakes up*, and sure enough. hehe

  • Ayup, that sounds pretty darned familiar, and pretty much how it happens to me most of the time… Our alarm is across the room from the bed, so sometimes I actually manage to get up and over to it, only to be facing it with two dead arms, and the option of headbutting it into silence or just kicking it. Neither ends well…
