After having to deal with our brand-spanking-newly-remodeled-in-its-entirety kitchen leak a not-insignificant amount of water into our basement (and through our particleboard Ikea cabinets), I would like to again, for the record, STRONGLY recommend AGAINST anyone using Hammonds Contracting, LLC, of Knoxville, TN.
That is all.

Oh that SUCKS!!!!! Now I feel really bad about ribbing you for having a dry basement when mine was filled with water.
You lose anything?
If you did have any serious damages or need to repairs/cleaning I’d lawyer up!
Just don’t hire from a certain firm in Philly.
Fortunately or unfortunately, it was not more than a few cups of water that fell through to the basement, and accumulated in the cabinet… We dried it all up with towels, and ran a hair dryer in the cabinet for an hour or two, and then I got in there and reseated the drain line back to where it should have been. Still not convinced it is 100% fixed, but we have a towel under it, and will be having a handyman over for some other work later this week/month, so they can take a gander at it as well.
Unfortunately, we still have not reached the point where lawyers would be cost-effective, but it is really headed that direction…
@Linoge – How about blow torches and pliers? Them are mighty cheap at ye olde hardware shoppe…..
Did I say that, or only think it? Did they hear me???
Oh boy, we’re getting a kitdchen do-over and the roof is ALSO slated to be done…
But it doesn’t rain here, except when it does.
But that’s months in-between…
@Weer’d Beard – Oh, do not get me, much less Better Half, even started…
@DirtCrashr – I wish I had some useful advice for you, but, in short, watch everything the contractor does, photograph everything, and if it is not in writing, it does not exist. Oh, and have a “if it is not done by this date, we can pull out at no charge” clause in the contract, along with a “final payment is pending our absolute satisfaction” clause.
