aged stingray

At the request of a few folks (one of whom will be featured here in the coming few days), here is a few recent pictures of the stingray-decorated holster I procured from Little Bear Holsters ’round about six months ago:

Ever since receiving this wonderful little holster, it has been my primary any time I am out of the house and not at work – I cannot say that I wore it every day, but it was employed at least twice a week, while I do such wide-ranging things as walking around stores, painting walls, and mowing the yard. It has not lost a bit of its grip, and keeps my PPS in the same position as when I first received it.

However, as you can see from the non-shiny white bits (the shiny ones are due to the crappy lighting of the picture, as is the yellow tinge), stingray does wear, though only really enough to remove the dyeing… if you are fond of the “aged” look (especially when it is honestly procured), as I am, this is not that big of a deal, but it is something to keep in mind.

Personally, I have absolutely no problems with David’s work or the holster as a whole, but I think I might avoid stingray in the future – the difficulties encountered while stitching it, the problems with having it over the entire holster (namely, that the trigger-guard-gripping section of the leather got pulled out to the point where it did not work), and the unexpected wear patterns (not that I have a problem with it – looks kind of cool after a fashion – I just was not forseeing it) lead me to believe this particular skin is somewhat difficult to work with and maintained (especially when colored).

Still, it looks badass, it beats the everloving hell out of chunky plastic monstrosities, and leads to interesting conversations. I can live with that. Six months later, Little Bear Holsters still gets my approval, though I need to work on my choices.
