minor success

It would appear as though the upgrade to Movable Type 5.0 went off more-or-less successfully… with a few problems that I need to discuss with (and apologize for to) my co-authors.
Comments, however, appear to be a momentary problem… It takes a while for the comment page to refresh after pressing the “Submit” button, but please bear with us. I am investigating it, and will see what I can do to correct it.
Update: Comments are well and truly borked. I have no idea why. However, when you push the “Submit” button, the comment does make it – please do not push the button more than once. Just fill out the form, push the button, wait about five seconds, and then click the link at the top of the page, or any other link you want – the comment made it, Movable Type is just being a pain in my ass.
So… how hard is it to move to WordPress?

  • testing….
I’ve never used MT so I don’t have any idea. I do note that your URLs are in the same format as one of the options for wordpress, so switching over could be seamless.
When I switched hosts, I actually set the blog up at the new host and checked it by changing the /etc/hosts file for my local machine. When it was where I wanted, I changed the public DNS records .
BTW, on the sidebar it says: This page contains an entry by Linoge published on 2032 05Feb10.

  • Well, the URLs are kind of the same format – it appears as though WordPress likes to use hyphens to take the place of spaces in addresses, while Movable Type prefers underscores. There seem to be a few workarounds for that, so at least that is correctible.
Given my current hosting situation, switching to WP will involve a complete overwrite of the MT installation… My largest qualm at doing so is losing the theme I have constructed for this webpage – copy-paste does not work so well in that case, given the number of MT-only tags embedded in the code.
I have submitted a bug notification for this interminable commenting time, but given that I am not a paying user of MT, I doubt I will see much of a reaction.
At any rate, that metadata looks about right…?
