the first glimmer of hope?

Damned if I ever thought I would be saying this, but I support the Tories (at least this time):

The Tories want to give people who kill burglars while defending their home more protection from prosecution, according to the shadow home secretary.

Chris Grayling promised a review of householders’ rights to defend themselves against intruders.

He said there were some cases where it may be “proportionate” to take a housebreaker’s life – such as when someone is attacked in his home by an armed intruder.

However, he added there would always be some circumstances where people needed to be prosecuted because they had gone “over the top”, for instance if they pursued a fleeing burglar and shot him dead.

Hell, I do not even argue with the last point. Once-Great Britain has been intentionally and directly creating a culture of victims, by disarming its populace, prosecuting its otherwise-law-abiding citizens for daring to defend themselves, demanding sole and complete reliance on an ineffective and understaffed police force, and countless other little, insinuous political moves. Unfortunately, it is the English subjects who are suffering the most for these boneheaded moves, with a violent crime rate that is already worse than South Africa’s, and is still increasing almost eight times faster than its population.
This may be too little too late, but at least it is a move in the right direction.
