Tennessee is apparently the fourth happiest state in the union.
Kalifornistan weighs in at 46. Florida at 3.
Having lived in all three of those states in the past five years, I cannot say as though I am terribly surprised. In fact, the thing that amused the most about living in Kalifornistan is the number of people who were positively shocked that I was enthusiastically looking forward to moving away from that God-forsaken state. I guess there are just some people who cannot get their fill of overcrowding, traffic, lousy air quality, high costs of living, $4 gasoline, rolling blackouts, raging infernos, house races, earthquakes, exorbitant real estate, and all of the other “funs” of living out there. Some people, but not many, apparently.

  • Also how many people there are just genuinely miserable about everything?
Certainly all the media I see comming out of Berklee and San Francisco seems that so many people there are just plain old unhappy about EVERYTHING.
Same goes with the more urban inhabitants of Boston.
But also Maybe it’s just being Liberal is to be unhappy. Seems with the exception of Hawaii (Which I’m suprised people are ranked happy there…everything is expensive, needs to be imported, and your ENTIRE WORLD is about the size of Massachusetts…and even then you need to ride a ferry or take a plane to get from one Island to the next. That would get old REALLY FAST for me) are fairly free states and fairly non-urban.
I might hypothosize that if you’re a dependant on the government, misery is going to be your ballgame…meanwhile if you just want to be left alone, and your state obligeses to do so, it’s gonna be hard for you to have much of a bad day.
Hell you comment on many of the same blogs I do. You see a trend?

  • Well, given the theory that liberalism is a mental illness including reinforcing perceptions of victimization and satisfying claims to entitlements (without ever actually guaranteeing anything), I would hypothesize that you are not terribly far off the mark.
Throw in the studies that conservatives really are happier than liberals, and there you have it.

  • We’re #3?
Must be the never ending sunshine. And the fact that we wear shorts on Christmas.
I’m not that happy. I can’t legally open carry. But then again, nobody asked me…

  • Well, you know what they say about vitamin D and all that. Hopefully, though, open carry is in the pipeline for you all… definitely something to work on.
