2012: Bogus science abounds, but if you are just there for the gratuitous special effects (which, thankfully, I was), then you should be good to go.

Bogus politics, too; but it was a fun flick to watch. Caught it this last Saturday.
Yeah, it kept me entertained for its 2.5 hours, though, I have to admit, my “I believe” button was getting mighty hard to push for some scenes…
I normally would not pay theater prices to see something like this but circumstances put me in for cheese, and man did I ever get it. Special effects were great, but how in the world can a viewer suspend disbelief when the main characters “just barely make it out alive” in almost every scene. Rife with cliches and as you stated, bogus science, this turned into a laugh out loud comedy for me. Spent 30 minutes outside the theater afterward discussing story issues with my friend, and laughing most of that time.
Oh, do not even get me started on the engineering, physics, and mechanical issues I had with those stupid-arsed “Ark” ships…
But, yeah, no matter how you looked at it, it kept me engaged, whether it was laughing, drooling over the special effects, or kibitzing.
