know them by their words

Many years back, a considerable number of “liberals“, “progressives”, Democrats, and other left-leaning individuals made copious quantities of hay over President Bush’s delayed response to the 9/11 attacks, holding it up as evidence that President Bush was somehow involved in the attacks, did not care about the attacks, wanted the attacks to happen, or other similar nutcase theories.
I am certainly not going to say that the recent mass-murder at Fort Hood is, in any way, comparable to the terrorist attacks and murders of 9/11, but where is those same individuals’ outrage over President Barack Hussein Obama’s handling of his press conference concerning the incident:

After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, word went out that the president would speak about the incident prior to a previously scheduled appearance. At about 5 p.m., cable stations went to the president. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective.

But instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and inappropriately light president making introductory remarks. At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior’s Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a “shout-out” to “Dr. Joe Medicine Crow — that Congressional Medal of Honor winner.” Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?

Anyone at home aware of the major news story of the previous hours had to have been stunned. An incident like this requires a scrapping of the early light banter. The president should apologize for the tone of his remarks, explain what has happened, express sympathy for those slain and appeal for calm and patience until all the facts are in. That’s the least that should occur.

Indeed, an argument could be made that Obama should have canceled the Indian event, out of respect for people having been murdered at an Army post a few hours before. That would have prevented any sort of jarring emotional switch at the event.

Did the president’s team not realize what sort of image they were presenting to the country at this moment? The disconnect between what Americans at home knew had been going on — and the initial words coming out of their president’s mouth was jolting, if not disturbing.

Even with news reports coming in from a military base on United States soil indicating that numerous people have been murdered and wounded (with both sets of numbers increasing with every new bit of information), Our Glorious President just mindlessly reads off what the teleprompter tells him to, even though those remarks were remarkably out-of-place, untimely, and borderline offensive in light of the situation.
Why did his public relations officers not update his script? Why did he not tell them to? Why did he simply not turn off the teleprompter and speak Presidentially?
Well, acutally, I can answer that last part: when he deviates from the script, Our Glorious President screws things up:

Crow’s name is not included on the Society’s Medal of Honor recipient list. He was, however, awarded the Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, in August.

Obama, often described as “cerebral” by the mainstream media, should know the difference between the Medal of Honor and the Medal of Freedom, especially since he personally awarded the latter to Crow. Don’t expect his blunder to receive wide coverage. It’s not something he can blame George Bush for.

In light of one of the worst attacks on the United States Military on American soil in recent history, Our Glorious President sticks to the suddenly-inappropriate script, and when he tries to wing it, he gets a simple fact wrong (a fact, I would point out, that he should have known, given he awarded Dr. Joe Medicine Crow his Medal of Freedom).
Our Glorious President does not care about our servicemen and women, he does not care about the American citizens, he does not even care about the people he is talking about/to… He only cares about “looking good”, and in his endless quest for popular acclaim, this time, he royally screwed up.
