ABC Radio reports something like “Republicans held an anti-healthcare reform protest on the Capitol steps.” Turns out it was 10,000 tea party protesters. Those must be some steps.
A 40 year old Major with a very-clearly-middle-eastern name kills over a dozen and wounds over 30 in a Gun Free Zone filled with soldiers about to deploy to combat. CNN’s Wolf Blitzer asks General Honore (Ret) if the shooting could have been gang related. Seriously.
Shep Smith refuses to name the shooter, citing “his name tells us a lot.”
All major news outlets ignore the elephant in the room.

Shep refused to name the shooter because he said that the only person giving the name out was a reporter (AP i think) who refused to give his or her own name. he never said anything about the name giving info. he refused to name the suspected shooter because if they were wrong “it is something that you can never take back.” he was right to do what he did. Fox waited until the name was given by a government source that was willing to stand by his statement.
searched for the video and i have it. he does say that the name says a lot.

i think it was the next minute or so where he “pulls back the curtain” to explain that they refused to give the name out until they had a .gov source who would go on the record.
Well he shouted `Allahu Akbar!’ before he started shooting, so everyone with above a room temperature IQ should be able to figure out his motivation.
You’d think, and yet I’m having these arguments on facebook about elephants in the room.
I heard about the tea party protest on the Capitol steps via CBS radio at the top of the hour. (The day before the Ft Hood shootings) They admitted a few thousand. Then they went on to the next story, which was about protesters in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office without making it clear that is was pro-socialized medicine supporters or the fact that it was her San Francisco office.
So the impression they wanted to leave was that the normally well behaved tea party protesters in DC got arrested.
That’s what I was left with until I did my own fact-checking at home later.
