As a recurring project here at “walls of the city”, I have been taking quotes from anti-rights advocates, and editing them slightly to more-adequately expose the outright and rank bigotry contained within them. Sometimes, this editing is a bit of a stretch, and I am willing to admit that, but today’s quote from none other than Doug Pennington, Assistant Director of Communications at the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence Ownership, is one of the easiest quotes to edit, by far. As with all previous iterations of this exercise, I will stress that the below blockquote is not a direct quote from Doug Pennington, but the core message of the words remains the same, regardless of the vocabulary used:
[I]sn’t it ironic how some libertarians want government to stay out of their lives, yet have no problem with forcing other people to live with big-nosed, greedy Jews everywhere they turn? The grocery store; the park; the school; the airport. Apparently, we have the “freedom” to live with what these so-called libertarians tell us to live with. After all, they have the money, right?
Just so everyone is clear, the above quote was never actually said/written by Doug Pennington, but that is the message he was putting across. The original quote, if you desire to read it, is available here, and for those of you who feel as though I unjustly and excessively altered the debate by simply changing the topic of the debate, perhaps you can answer a simple little question of mine that no one has been willing or able to adequately answer yet: how is discriminating against one right any different than discriminating against another right?
Just imagine the hue and cry that would be raised if Doug Pennington, speaking on behalf of the Brady Campaign, had actually written the above words… And yet his obvious bigotry is apparently acceptable to the Brady Campaign, its staff, and its supporters, simply because that bigotry is targeting those who dare to exercise their right to self-defense. In the end, the Brady Campaign and its members are no better than any other organization seeking to deprive Americans of their rights… and, in fact, they are almost worse – most of those other anti-rights organizations were at least honest in their motivations.
comes out all the same | scum of the earth | showing him for what he is |

bigots within our ranks
I have made a relatively big deal of exposing the bigotry of anti-rights advocates at this webpage (a project that was inspired by Joe Huffman’s attempts to do the same), but I would be lying to say that supposed pro-rights…
