mind your own meat

Unless you have not yet graduated from high school / college (and I am not sure how many people in that situation read this weblog – feel free to pipe up if you are), you are probably keenly aware how the prices of various meats have increased over the past decade or so. I can certainly remember my mother buying decent-grade beef for somewhere around $1 a pound, and these days, even in the relatively rural section of the country we live in, you would be lucky to find 70/30 beef for less than $2.00.
But do not worry – our richer and betters have a quick-and-easy solution to our cost problems, a solution that has the coincidental side-benefit of “saving the environment” and all that good stuff: stop eating meat!

In an interview with The Times, Lord Stern of Brentford said: “Meat is a wasteful use of water and creates a lot of greenhouse gases. It puts enormous pressure on the world’s resources. A vegetarian diet is better.”

Lord Stern, the author of the influential 2006 Stern Review on the cost of tackling global warming, said that a successful deal at the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December would lead to soaring costs for meat and other foods that generate large quantities of greenhouse gases.

Let me make myself very clear to you, Your High-And-Mightynesss: Piss. Off. You. Meddling. Wanking. Tosser.
If you and your cute-and-useless honorific want to become carrot-munching rabbits, then knock yourselves out. But the very second you start telling me what I should and should not eat based off a failed and erroneous theory, then you become a half-wit, officious, odious, intrusive twit who is not worthy of the slightest degree of respect, regardless of your irrelevant title.
What is that you are screaming? “Global warming is real!”? Hm. Then perhaps your moronishness could explain why the globe is not actually warming? Or how about how we may be entering an honest-to-Queen-and-Country cooling period? Or maybe how the CO2 levels in the atmosphere are not causing the “disaster” they “should”? Or can you even handle how the ice melt at the Antarctic was the lowest ever recorded in satellite history, and how the North Pole was completely ice-free in 1954, and the world somehow managed to not end? Fewer and fewer people believe in the death cult of anthropogenic global warming and over 700 scientists around the globe disagree with the theory, and yet you continue to try to impose your beliefs on other people on the basis of a yet-unproven myth. Do you see anything wrong with this?
Undoubtedly you do not, and I would wager that Our Glorious Leader will be aboard the same idiocy train for which you appear to have season tickets. Thankfully, though, we Yanks have a history of telling you officious blowhards to pack sand, and I can only hope we live up to the example set by our predecessors.
