Remember: according to the anti-rights advocates of the world, things like this never happen.
It is very good to hear that Caleb came through the situation unscathed, with his only loss being a cup of coffee… He covers the take-aways pretty well, but to recap:
1. Be aware of your surroundings.
2. Damn near anything can be employed as a weapon.
3. Any firearm is better than no firearm.
And now the immortal question: given that no shot was fired (a fact that, I am sure, everyone is happy about – none of us actually want to kill anyone, just be safe and left alone), will this be recorded as a defensive gun use? I know it should be, but that is indicative of nothing.
At least he found something useful to do with the Starbucks coffee, given that it is completely useless as a beverage…

In the comments, Caleb says he had already made up his mind he was going to shoot the guy. It just took him so long to get to his Jetfire that by the time he was on target the guy had dropped the knife and was running away.
I’ll be practicing my pocket draw more frequently now.
And if he had, I would have had little to no problems supporting him and his decision – the assailant had opportunity, intent, and capability, and that satisfies the deadly force triangle in my book.
But you and I both know that unless a shot was fired and someone wounded/killed, the anti-rights advocates will never write off on a situation as being a defensive gun use – after all, it is all about the blood to them.
At least he found something useful to do with the Starbucks coffee, given that it is completely useless as a beverage…
Am I outing myself by saying I like Starbucks mochas?
Will it help by saying I shoot a 1911?
Well, it’s a Springfield Ultra-compact…but it’s still as 1911…
(I’m just gonna sit in the corner over here…)
Hm… you get credit for the 1911, but lose a lot of it to the bastardized design.
As for your choice in beverages, we can get you a purse that will match them…
