being reddish-green

Bumper sticker seen today:

Recycle yourself. Become an organ and tissue donor.

I wonder how many “greenies” actually are…?

  • What would be great is if they paid you for them too. Then all of the blood and organ shortages would evaporate. Still, I give blood anyway. What I want to know is if they could do away with the 50 questions that I have to answer the same way every two months to the same company. For newbies sure they need them, if you haven’t donated in a while, sure its a great refresher, however for regulars it is a waste of time. Just ask, “Has anything happened that would change your status as a blood donor?” Of course that is redundant in and of itself because if you give blood regularly, you know what will disqualify you so if something has happened in the last two months (tatoo, piercing, sex with prostitute, etc.) then you wouldn’t be showing up to give blood anyway.

  • Dude… having our families reimbursed for organ and tissue donation would just be awesome, and something I would totally support. Unfortunately, we are not likely to see it.
Doubly unfortunately, my last deployment disqualified me from giving blood for the time being, what with being all Middle East-y and stuff. I think that exclusion expires soon, thouh.
