Here in Tennessee, restauranteurs are coming completely unglued over whether or not to post their respective establishments as being “off-limits” to law-abiding, background-checked, permitted citizens carrying their firearms in a lawful manner. Amusingly, the fast-food joints here in the patron state of shooting things did not seem to have similar problems back when concealed carry was enacted… At any rate, one of the best examples of the rampant hoplophobia and borderline hysteria ripping through the ranks of restaurant owners is none other than Mike Chase, who you will recall as being one of the most vociferous opponents to legalizing licensed carry in establishments that serve alcohol. I have received multiple reports from various people (including Steve in TN) that Calhoun’s (one of Mike’s restaurants) has not been posted as off-limits – I find it very interesting that Mike would so loudly support forcing all alcohol-serving restaurants in Tennessee to abide by his own personal opinions and fears, but cannot even be bothered to follow-through on his own restaurants.
Across the country, Arizona also recently legalized allowing law-abiding, background-checked, licensed citizens to carry their firearms into restaurants that serve alcohol, and Joe’s BBQ in Wikieup had the best answer so far: give a 10% discount to those citizens lawfully carrying firearms.
It is almost like some business owners respect and encourage the rights of citizens, and some do not…
