This is an open challenge to any and all anti-rights advocates in America and elsewhere: please, explain to us how discriminating against one right is any different from discriminating against another right.
For instance, how is the situation different (better, worse, whatever) if someone were to discriminate against the right of self defense, rather than if they were to discriminate against someone’s right to equal treatment under the law / in society.
You are more than welcome to write up your position here in a comment, or pen them in your own corner of the cotext and provide me a link here. However, bear in mind that this is not a question that can be adequately or accurately answered with, “Because I said so.” Citations, supporting documentation, references, logical arguments, and well-explained trains of thoughts are required. Furthermore, any logical fallacies will result in whatever point they are supporting immediately being disqualified, so be sure you check your reasoning.
Here is your chance, folks… Present your arguments, stand up for your causes, and try and convince me that you are in the right… but that is going to require you to actually do some work, and not just write up a lengthy equivalent of, “It is this way because I think it is this way.” Sorry.
gun control is “bad news” for blacks | please show your work | “despicable” does not do her justice |

Well it’s simple. The Anti-Freedom types see ALL rights as subject to restriction and believe they are GRANTED by our government, and of course have no problem with having to issue a “good reason” to exercise it.
Of course this all needs to be done without infringing on the rights THEY use in their day-to-day.
ie: it’s totally OK to pat down all people within a mile of a Democrat politician to check for guns, and it should be OK to inspect the houses of gun owners to make sure they aren’t selling them on the black market….but you can’t pat down somebody to discover the dime bag of pot they carry because of the 4th Amendment…
Those who don’t respect the 2nd Amendment don’t respect the entire bill of rights!
That chirping noise is from the crickets on the anti side.
Weer’d: You pretty much summed it up perfectly with this comment:
… which is why I do not really forsee an actual response to my inquiry. The simple reality is that all of the rights protected by the Constitution are also equal in the eyes of the Constitution – if you oppose one, you oppose them all, which leaves you in a relatively awkward position.
.
By the same token, I am somewhat surprised that any anti-rights advocates reading this weblog were able to think that far ahead and avoid the trap, but maybe my readership is lower than I give myself credit for
AnotherGunGuy: To be fair, one person I directly challenged did have a response:
Granted, he did not even try to explain, rationalize, defend, or support his own position, which speaks volumes to either his own character, or the indefensibility of his position (or both), but at least it was something approximating a response.
Of course, this is from the same individual who admitted he has no way of determining fact from fiction, so I guess I should not be surprised that the rest of his mental processes are equally deficient.
showing him for what he is
To continue a meme that is gathering steam throughout the gunblogosphere, I give you a quote from a raving anti-rights advocate known as “mikeb302000″ (who shall remain linkless for obvious reasons)… only this quote is a little edited (though the…
calling them out
Weer’d is having a party, but you are not invited. Instead, he wants to hear from all of the anti-rights, gun-banning, hoplophobic ninnies who think dressed-up firearms are somehow more dangerous than their wood-stocked counterparts, who think that “se…
comes out all the same
For today’s installment of blatant and outright bigotry, I give you yet another modified quote from our most-frequent repeat offender – none other than MikeB302000 himself. Again, as with the previous incarnations of this exercise, I will stress that t…
scum of the earth
Unsurprisingly to anyone who is familiar with him, Bryan Miller said some heinously atrocious things about Meleanie Hain’s death, using the opportunity of an innocent woman’s untimely and violent death to gloat and preen. I will not repost Bryan’s exac…
“despicable” does not do her justice
Recently, I have been highlighting some of the bigotry so prevalent on the anti-rights side of the spectrum (thanks to inspiration from pro-rights acitivist extraordinaire, Joe Huffman) by going through some choice quotes from anti-rights advocates and…
commenters are required to submit fingerprints
Today’s bigotry-exposing word-replacement exercise subject is UBU52, a regular commenter troll at Robb’s and Joe’s places. Have you ever had a person loudly, obnoxiously, and rudely try to correct you on something, only to find out, in very short order…
