up and down and up and down and…

To answer the burning question that has been keeping you up at night, yes, you can do pretty damn near everything Dollywood has to offer in a single day, but you had better be prepared for the hangover afterwards…
Better Half and I took yesterday off to take her sister out to the Eastern TN theme park, and we did a fairly good showing of hitting up pretty much every significant ride they had to offer… The Slidewinder was closed, and we were not feeling up to the River Battle (and the resulting soakage), but apart from that, we checked all the pertinent boxes, and even caught one of the birds of prey shows. My XTi made it back from its makers on Monday (it turns out the camera was fine, but the lens was incapable of figuring out where it was supposed to focus), so I should have some pictures up once I have the time to sort through them (yay multi-exposure drive capabilities).
A few comments… First, do not carry around your knife in your back pocket while riding roller coasters. I do not know which one it came out on, but my brand-new Kershaw RAM was not in my pants this morning. Sad Linoge. Actually, very sad Linoge – I had come to like that knife. Second, wooden roller coasters need padded seats, or I need more padding myself. Third, the Mystery Mine is a singularly awesome roller coaster (anything further I say would spoil the experience if you have not already been on it). Fourth, the traffic on a Tuesday might have been better than it would have been on a weekend, but Tuesdays in the summer are still pretty bad… average wait times at coasters was about 30+ minutes or so.
And now for the random observation – motorcycles get front-row parking at Dollywood… as close as you can get, even closer than handicapped parking. All the more reason to get the MP3, I suppose…
