In a 5-2 vote this evening, my city’s council decided to disarm law-abiding, background-checked, proven-responsible citizens when they visit city parks, and, by the same vote, decided to empower criminals who can now be guaranteed that the vast majority of park-goers are defenseless, easy victims.
I was unable to make the actual city council meeting, due to viewing a new prospective house, but despite the speeches made by the many pro-rights advocates who did manage to attend, the city council had apparently already made up its mind before the actual hearing.
The city has committed itself to a course of action that will cost it $30,000 to erect new signs, strip law-abiding citizens of their rights, and discriminate against trained, licensed individuals. Of course, if you are a criminal, you can keep doing what you are doing, and illegally carry your firearm wherever the hell you damn well please, since the upcoming signs will not mean any more to you than the current laws do know.
Gorramed, idiotic, meddling, small-town, big-headed, nanny-statist, discriminatory, bigoted, controlling, hoplophobic, uneducated, narrow-minded bureaucrats… congratulations to the five of you who voted to “opt-out” – I hope you enjoy your new career aiding and abetting criminals.
