Restaurant Carry Piece on the BBC

Nikki Goeser, Randy Rayburn, and Metro Nashville Police Chief Ronal Serpas are interviewed by a BBC reporter in this story.
A couple of things: First, you have to remember that the British have no “gun culture.” It’s not the reporter’s fault that he can’t distinguish between people who own guns, and carry permit holders. When he talks about “gun owners” in the piece, he means “carry permit holders.” We have a lot more than a quarter million gun owners in this state.
Second, I find it odd that Serpas just knows that carry permit holders will drink and kill people even though it hasn’t happened in any of the other states that allow it. He bases this assumption on the fact that people with drivers licenses drink and kill people, but I’m pretty sure he’s never advocated alcohol prohibition.

  • Georgia has had resturant carry for just over a year, and not a single death or wild west shoot, and frankly don’t expect there to be one.

  • Clearly you people in Tennessee with drivers licenses should be prohibited from entering bars or restaurants that serve demon rum.
No wait, make that you people that “own” a car whether your licensed or not.

  • not grasping the concept

We have talked about Randy Rayburn here at “walls of the city” a few times before, but his most-recent load of gos-se deserves some renewed attention: What is the statute of limitations on a bad idea that is historically unsound…
