paypal sucks

When you get right down to it, PayPal is effectively the only game in town when it comes to online money transfers.
PayPal is also rabidly anti-firearm, to the point that if you perform a transaction and mention firearms or firearm-related items, your account will be terminated with extreme prejudice.
Likewise, if you are an established, charitable organization dedicated to supporting and helping our soldiers, sailors, and airmen throughout the world, you raffle off a firearm, and you dare to use PayPal to complete the monetary transactions for that raffle online, PayPal will shut your account down.
So an organization that supports people who carry firearms can use PayPal, but an organization that supports people who carry firearms and also sells of raffle tickets for another firearm cannot. It is not even like they were selling the actual pistol by way of PayPal – just the tickets.
Because PayPal is rabidly anti-rights, all donations to a worthy cause were shut off for twelve hours, right in the middle of an email fundraising push, and after the for-charity raffle in question had already sold 109 tickets in three days. Being a private business with whom I am not forced to do business, they are more than welcome to do whatever they so desire… but that does not make it right, and that does not mean I have to agree with it.
I admit to using PayPal currently, and will do so in the future, simply because that is the only way I can receive revenue from the advertisements on this webpage. However, if there were an alternative, I would be more than willing to jump ship – intolerance is intolerance, regardless of whether it is about one civil right (equal treatment under the law) or another (self-defense).

  • We’ve managed to bypass PayPal! Another sponsor of the Rendezvous, LuckyGunner.com, an ammo site, is doing the on-line ticket sales for us with all proceeds (minus the 3% credit card fee) going to Soldiers’ Angels. Soldiers’ Angels is still taking phone orders for those who don’t want to purchase on-line. Details here: smallestminority.blogspot.com/2009/08/hey-still-wanna-win-one-of-these.html
    And thanks again for linking!

  • Saw that, should have updated this post, will write a new one now :) .
    And no worries.

A few days ago, I wrote about the friendly folks at Lucky Gunner, and how their prices are really not all that bad (but also how I would have to tack on 10% to those prices automatically, thanks to Tennessee’s…
