Well, this news just made my whole day:
We are working on it. It will have to be made in the US as it cannot be imported.
But we are definitely working on it and that is all I can say for now.
In response to the question, “Any chance of the IMI TAVOR line up coming in through C/D?”
Apparently Charles Daly has been having some difficulties (which is pretty much a given, when it comes to manufacturing a currently-used-and-manufacturered-elsewhere firearm here in the States), but Mr. Kassnar hopes to a US-legal Tavor fielded by this time next year:
No idea on the release date yet. As several have mentioned, there are many, many things to put to bed yet. Contracts, ATF approvals, etc., etc. Having said that, we would like to see this launched at the 2010 SHOT Show in January, with delivery soon after that.
Given the problems Barrett had exploring production of the Tavor, I guess we will have to wait and see.
And for those unfamiliar with this particular platform, you can check out the Tavor/TAR-21 here, here, or here. It is: a gas-operated, bullpup-configuration, ambidexterous-capable rifle chambered in 5.56; compatible with STANAG (i.e. AR-15-compatible) magazines; and currently the standard-issue rifle for two Israeli Defense Force brigades (which kind of answers the “reliability/durability” question). Unfortunately, it is also somewhat unique, in that its receiver is pretty much the entire gun, which also happens to be predominantly polymer – I am sure the ATF will be completely understanding concerning this design feature.
Modularity/customization seems to be somewhat limited (though barrels come in different lengths, ranging from 13 to 18 inches, and a 9mm barrel/bolt modification appears to be available), and the Linoge-mandated railfarm is not present (it has only a dorsal rail), but this seems like a positively wonderful SBR rifle…
My only concern, and it is a substantial one, is that Charles Daly maintains the same high level of production stadards that IMI/IWI had/has. I have not had the slightest of problems with my IMI Baby Eagle, and would feel perfectly comfortable doing ungodly things to it due to the name stamped on its ass. The folks at Charles Daly had better live up to that, otherwise they will be doing the firearm community a horrible disservice.
In other news, I shudder to think of what its price-tag will be…

Nice to know, just hope it isn’t too far out of my price range, for I wouldn’t mind having one.
Yeah, that is my other concern… I can easily see something like this being placed in the $2000+ range, and that would pretty much take it out of the running for me.
minor scheduling change
By way of an update on the Tavor situation I mentioned previously, I have this: Update on timeline: after quite a bit of research, it appears we will be busting our cajones to have a sample at SHOT 2010. More…
