containment breach

We all know that schools throughout our country have magical force fields surrounding them that keep firearms off the schools’ property. These force fields are clearly delineated by signs proclaiming, “No guns allowed,” or something similar, and are more than sufficient to ensure that firearms never manage to gain entry to the school grounds.
The existence of these force fields lead me to believe that this news report is nothing more than a figment of the journalist’s creative imagination – after all, “No guns allowed,” means no guns are allowed, and if no guns are allowed then how do you murder someone with a gun?
[/snark]
Sarcasm aside, it is very unfortunate that an individual has been murdered, and it is doubly unfortunate that the state stripped him of his right to carry a firearm if he so chose. I am not saying that the carrying a firearm would have made a definitive difference, or even that the custodian would have carried a firearm, but the laws against carrying a firearm onto school property obviously did not deter the murderer.
For that matter, the laws against murdering another human did not seem to bother him any, either.
It is almost like criminals do not care about the government’s laws, or our society’s rules. Oh wait…
The more we disarm law-abiding citizens in a futile and pointless attempt to magically disarm criminals, the more deaths we will see in “gun free zones”. To someone who does not care about the law or societal contracts, “gun free zones” is just another name for “defenseless victim areas”.
My sympathies go out to the custodian’s families and friends, and I sincerely hope the murderer is captured, tried, and punished to the fullest extent of the law.
And in a two-for-the-price-of-one, today, some washed-up old white supremacist decided to stroll into the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in D.C. and shoot up some security guard(s). Unfortunately, the guard appears to have died, though the shooter will live to see a trial.
So here we have a city that has all-but banned firearms, and where it is completely illegal to carry any kind of firearm in public, and a location where not only are weapons banned, but also bag are checked and people have to go through metal detectors, and this whackjob appeared to have no problems whatsoever strolling into the joint and blazing away. Even better, this individual is a convicted felon, and him having any firearms in his possession is a crime.
It was almost like those laws and signs meant absolutely nothing to him. Interesting, that.
Oh, and even more interestingly, guess what it took to stop this wanna-be murderer from taking out even more people? You guessed it – another guy with a gun. The guards’ guns must not have had the “evil” chip installed…
Likewise, my thoughts and prayers go to the family and friends of the security guard.
