Even in this day and age, I can kind of understand how small companies’ online stores may not have the most up-to-date information concerning what items are or are not in stock, especially for stores that are, in any way, associated with firearms or firearm accessories. Shipments arrive unexpectedly, stock sells out more quickly than expected, and other oddities of the supply chain happen every day – having a system to track all of that, real-time, requires either a comprehensive, networked, powerful, and expensive software suite, or the dedicated time of more than a few individuals… and what small company has the funds for either?
So, when I place an order, and the item in question turns out to be out of stock and backordered, I can forgive that.
But when I place an order, check on that order 24 hours later, have the online system tell me the order status is “HOLD – Expecting For Stock”, check the page for the product in question, and that page does not indicate the backorder status… That, folks, is indicative of a seriously jacked up piece of vending software. *sigh* What is worse is that the system did not inform me of the backorder status – I had to go look for myself.
Inventory management and customer service (and grammar) – you are doing it wrong.
