So, for my readers who are like me, and live under a rock and almost never pay attention to the news, a repeat-parole-offending convicted felon murdered three police officers, and a fourth is brain dead on life support. My prayers and thoughts are with the families and friends of Sgt. Mark Dunakin, Sgt. Ervin Romans, Sgt. Daniel Sakai, and Officer John Hege.
However, given the facts that are presented in the various news reports surrounding this event (which, granted, could be highly suspect, given the media’s inability to report firearm-related material accurately), there must be something wrong. After all, this man was a convicted felon, and thus was legally barred from ever owning or possessing a firearm in the entire United States. Furthermore, this took place in the People’s Republic of Kalifornistan, where “assault weapons” (even the semi-automatic firearms that look like military guns) are banned, and have been for some time. Finally, some news reports indicate that the shooter was using a fully-automatic weapon – something that was illegal for him to possess without a license, and something that was illegal for a convicted felon to possess at all.
Given that all of these laws broken were passed to prevent murdering criminals from doing exactly what this murdering criminal did, and given how all of the hoplophobes in Kalifornistan and across the country constantly proclaim how much they are needed, how well they work, and what great ideas they are, like I said – something must be wrong with the news reporting concerning this event.
After all, it is not like criminals… break laws, or anything…
The one good thing to come out of this event? Our murderer in question got what he wanted – he is never going to see the inside of a jail ever again. Given how the Kalifornistan justice system did a massive disservice to the people and police of its state and repeatedly paroled this murderer after repeated offenses, I can only see that as a benefit for all parties involved.
