		<description>I certainly agree that it was one of the least-bad things the government could have done, if they were going to do anything in general.  That said, it sitll opens up windows and opportunities for all manner of other things down the road - after all, if they are going to be paying for the repairs of these vehicles, should they not have a say in how these vehicles are produced?

		<description>Backing warranties as a last resort is probably the least-bad way the government could spend money to prop up the US auto industry.   It is a whole lot less-bad than giving the most money to the most mismanaged companies.
Least bad isn&#039;t the same thing as good. though.
