I mean, do people get upset when cops handcuff suspects to keep them from fleeing the scene? Well, actually, they kind of do sometimes, but I guess that just shows how far we have fallen. accused Mr. Barnett of holding the group captive at gunpoint, threatening to turn his dog loose on them and saying he would shoot anyone who tried to escape.

I read this, and my first thought was they were setting the scene, and about to describe what Mr Barnett did wrong.
Then I realized that’s what they were upset about. I hope the judge laughs in their face.
