The Knoxville Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at a West Knoxville grocery store.
Just after midnight Saturday, two black men wearing ski masks and carrying guns walked into the Food City on Morrell Road.
Officials say the suspects forced everyone inside to the ground and entered the manager’s office. The suspects forced the manager to open the safe and left with an undetermined amount of money.
According to police, the suspects then fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.
KPD is working on descriptions of the suspects, all that is being released at this time is one suspect was carrying a shot gun and the other a hand gun.
No suspect of vehicle descriptions are available at this time.
Sure, in this case, no one was hurt… but the victims in this situation had no way of knowing they were going to come out ok when two gunmen forced them to the ground. Once those gunmen did that, and probably pointed firearms at people in the process, they met all three aspects of the deadly force triangle – opportunity, intent, and capability. From that point on, the victims’ lives were dependent on the generosity and largesse of the perpetrators… I do not know about you, but I would rather be equipped to adequately defend myself, rather than depending on the emotions of someone who has already prove himself to be a little excited/unbalanced/unpredictable.
Unfortunately, the way things are going, something tells me to expect more and more of this happening… and, sooner or later, one of the groups of small-time thugs will not be as… humane… as this team.
