Dan Cooper is the owner and founder of Cooper Firearms of Montana, a company that creates absolutely gorgeous, accurate, high-quality, custom rifles. Dan Cooper also supports Senator Barack Hussein Obama. Needless to say, I cannot really reconcile a firearm manufacturer/owner supporting a massively anti-Second-Amendment, anti-Constitution Presidential candidate… and I went ahead and told him that:
Mr. Cooper,
My name is Linoge [yes, I actually used my real name in the email], and I am a proud, law-abiding gun owner. While I am not necessarily in the market for a long-range, high-accuracy rifle, I happened to stumble across your website today, and I have to admit that you make some positively beautiful hardware. Unfortunately, my admiration for your firearms is tempered, if not outright destroyed, by finding out that you are supporting Senator Barack Hussein Obama, a man who has no respect for the Second Amendment and hardly any respect for the Constitution as a whole.
I would imagine that since you do not manufacture “evil black rifles”, you consider yourself to be safe from Senator Obama’s historical and current anti-gun tendencies. Unfortunately, this is not the case. In addition to Senator Barack Hussein Obama’s already-planned “assault weapon ban”, he has also thrown in his support with Senator Ted Kennedy’s armor piercing ammunition ban. This ban could potentially eliminate any ammunition capable of penetrating any body armor – needless to say, this would affect a signficant number of hunting calibers currently in use today, given that some body armors cannot even stop a 9mm round. Additionally, Senator Barack Hussein Obama has already endorsed ammunition serialization (a massively expensive process) as well as a $0.05 tax per round – both of these would significantly impact your company’s business, as well as the activities and budgets of its clients. Finally, Senator Barack Hussein Obama has voted against the Protection of Lawful Commerce Act, a bill to prohibit civil liability actions from being brought against manufacturers (such as yourself) for damages resulting from the misuse of their products by others.
While the following points may not necessarily affect your business, they certainly affect your customers, and their rights as law-abiding firearm owners. Senator Barack Hussein Obama is against concealed carry for anyone other than law-enforcement officers, is against defensive uses of firearms, even in people’s homes, cosponsored a bill limiting individuals to one firearm purchase per month, and supported the D.C. firearm ban (while later appearing to disagree with it). Honestly, I initially thought that the NRA’s claim concerning Senator Barack Hussein Obama (that he would be “the most anti-gun President in American history”) to be something of a hyperbole… however, now that I have learned more about the man and his past decisions, I have no doubt that they are probably quite accurate.
Honestly, I simply cannot comprehend how you, a firearms manufacturer and owner, could support a man who shows absolutely no regard for the Second Amendment, the inherent rights of his citizens, or the concept of self-defense. However, rest assured – news of your perfidy will be spread far and wide among the pro-rights and pro-self-defense webloggers. My only regret at this point is that I am not in the market for a firearm like the ones you produce – if I was, I would use the opportunity to give my money to another company, a company that believes in my rights as much as I do. You are more than welcome to support whichever political candidate and whatever cause you so desire – that is, after all, the American way. However, just as I will make my vote known in the polling booth, I also vote with my checkbook, and neither you nor your company will ever see a penny of my money.
Sincerely,
Linoge.Be advised: This email, along with any response you decide to send, will be posted to my weblog.
I always did like that word, “perfidy“… and it fits this situation so very perfectly.
