my first time
Granted, it was at a Kroger, so I would not exactly describe it as a special experience, but my first time came tonight, out running errands with Better Half.
Getting used to the added weight will take some time, as will finding a comfortable position to hang it. Add in the responsibilities and accountabilities that come with it as well, and this is quite a lifestyle change.
At any rate, tonight was my first time legally carrying a concealed firearm out in public. To say it was different would be putting it mildly. More once I have time to process thoughts.

Wow, a month has gone by, and I have hardly noticed. Time for some thoughts, I suppose (and, as usual for me, they are rather long-winded). 1. Carrying a firearm in a concealed manner about your daily business is a... Read More

Congratulations! With a good holster and belt, the physical weight becomes normal.
I can't carry at work, and I'm used to that. Anyplace else and I feel strange without it.
Thank you both. I definitely have a good holster (though I am wondering at my single-clip choice), but have come to the realization that my Fossil belt... does not quite cut it. Any suggestions? I am leaning towards a Maxpedition Ligerskin, but am open to any help.
Congratulations! My first carry was to Borders Book Store. I was concerned about the anti-theft gate at the entrance, but it didn't make a peep. If you're looking for a good IWB, check out Dave Workman @ DandDGunleather.com. Extremely good holsters and very fast turn-around.
Instructors belt from Wilderness Tactical works great as well for holsters. Cheap, adjustable length and stiff as needed.
Those little gates are less metal detectors and more RFID sensors (they pick up the funny thick barcoded things on the backs/insides of some items - I do not think they are actually RFID tags, but they are certainly their predecessors). The holster I got is almost identical to the one you suggested, but made by a guy by the name of Eric.
As for belts, I seriously thought about one just like the Wilderness Tactical, but I like leather - what can I say :). I ended up going with a 5.11 model today - I figure I cannot go wrong with them.
